Great post about nursing informatics! It is fascinating to watch the rate of growth in the area of nursing technology. You talked about the different specialties in healthcare all working together to get the best outcome for the patient. Researchers project that nursing informatics will be essential in virtual care delivery and real-time knowledge making by providing information to individualize care in the future (Nagel, Sermeus, & Junger, 2017). The interconnectedness of healthcare organizations includes continuity of care and promotes well-being. Information technology has been initiated to improve healthcare quality and provide safe and effective care nationwide (Kossman & Scheidenhelm, 2008).
As healthcare entities, we utilize technology for the majority of our cares. In the case of an emergency or natural disaster, how do you think this would affect our patient care? Are we prepared as nurses and physicians to practice without the use of technology?
