Scope-Of-Practice (SoP) Laws That Govern The Practice Of Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
Much of the ongoing debate over scope-of-practice (SoP) laws that govern the practice of nurse practitioners (NPs) across the country focuses on the cost of and access to health care and on whether these laws legitimately promote patient safety or are simply anticompetitive restrictions on NPs’ ability to compete with physicians. After completing the following CE activity at Medscape https://www.medscape.org/viewarticle/506277_1 ( sign for the free account), please answer the following questions:
Should an NP who is educationally prepared as an acute care NP work in an adult primary care setting?
Is it within the scope for an FNP to diagnose and treat uncomplicated mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and ADHD?
Are there any restrictions for the FNP to treat patients with mood disorders and to prescribe them antipsychotics or SSRIs ?
Use APA Style and appropriated references.

Discussion 6
A) Many of his colleagues considered Rollo May the father of American existential psychology. What are the key similarities and differences that you discern between May and the European humanistic perspectives about the individual and connection to others? What makes these significant?
B) Irvin Yalom suggests that anxiety is an existential dilemma that can emerge in a person’s daily life and needs concrete decisions from an individual in order to ameliorate it. Do you agree or disagree with Yalom’s position? Why? How does your personal worldview influence your stance? Explain.
Discussion 7
A) Some believe that the integration of the mind, body, and spirit into a unitary whole can create harmony and healing in one’s life. Do you agree? Why or why not? How might the connection between these three separate entities be important in understanding how one might transcend physical aging? Support your position.
B) What are other types of “therapies” that can contribute to refreshing the mind, rejuvenating the body, and renewing the spirit? Which of these alternatives do you believe best aligns with a Christian worldview? Why? Which of these alternatives do you believe best aligns with your personal worldview? Why?
Discussion 8
A) Integral theory suggests that human development and psychological stages of growth should be integrated with a spiritual state of awareness. What are the possible benefits of recognizing “other states of awareness” as a way of healing a person holistically? Does this integral theory align with the Christian worldview? Why or why not?
B) Literature suggests that transpersonal psychology should be the 4th Force or movement in psychology along with psychoanalysis, behaviorism, and humanistic psychology. Why has transpersonal psychology garnered significant attention over the past decade? Do you believe it should be its own movement (a 4th Force)? Why or why not? To what extent, if at all, is the notion of transpersonal psychology compatible with your personal worldview? Explain. How might this compatibility (or lack thereof) influence your dissertation research?
Juanita has been seeking treatment for her marijuana use from you for a month now. While she has significantly cut back on her substance use, she is having difficulty quitting and remaining abstinent for periods that last longer than a few days. In your counseling sessions, Juanita has mentioned that she feels very badly about herself—she feels guilty about being unable to quit and explains that she doesn’t think she is strong enough to quit altogether. She has also expressed nervousness that her boyfriend would no longer like her if she quit smoking, and she has expressed concern that if he leaves her, she wouldn’t be able to find a new boyfriend because she doesn’t believe she is pretty enough. Juanita is also unsatisfied with her job as a cashier at the local grocery store, but has expressed her opinion that she doesn’t think she is smart enough to get a better job. You know from Juanita’s history, that her mother was very critical of Juanita when she was a child and that her father was absent for most of her childhood. In high school, Juanita excelled at classes in biology and math, but she never attended college.
To help Juanita overcome her barriers to marijuana abstinence, write a summary of what the counselor should cover in the next meeting with Juanita. Ensure that you cover the following points:
- Explain the concepts of positive psychology to Juanita.
- Examine the goals of positive psychology and explain how this approach will help Juanita obtain sobriety, focusing specifically on the concerns and dissatisfactions she has expressed.
- Design at least two exercises based on positive psychology for Juanita to work on in between counseling sessions.
- Explain spirituality to Juanita, emphasizing the differences between spirituality and religion.
- Examine how spirituality and positive psychology can work together to help Juanita achieve her goals.
Write a 4–5-page paper in Word format. Use scholarly resources, including the textbook to support your ideas. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
After all the planning, which can sometimes take years, the implementation process begins. This phase is the cornerstone of all the previous work. Implementation does not necessarily mean that there is no further work needed to ensure success. Instead, implementation means monitoring each phase in the implementation process to ensure that everything is working as planned. In addition, it means measuring and evaluating to determine if there is a need to change the intervention strategies to increase the efficacy of the program. Implementation is also aligned with the theory and purpose of the program. This is, indeed, the longest phase of the health program process.
Using the readings for this week, the South University Online Library, and the Internet, obtain scholarly articles and materials to draw inferences and support your philosophy.
Respond to the following:
Assume that your healthcare organization is starting a health program on your selected health issue or health disease topic. You have been charged with leading a team to evaluate the health information technology issues related to that program. In your evaluation, consider the following:
- How would you establish an information management system?
- What steps would you take to establish your information management system?
- How would you develop your budget?
- How would you incorporate social marketing?
- What would be your top three concerns about implementing health information technology?
Write a 1–2-paragraph response. Support your statements with appropriate examples and scholarly references. Comment on the postings of at least two peers with scholarly information.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Explained how you would establish an information management system detailing the steps you would take.
- Described how you would develop your budget.
- Described how you would incorporate social marketing.
- Explained your top three concerns about implementing health information technology.
- Responses demonstrated an in-depth research and analysis of issues associated with implementing health information technology.
- Justified your answers with appropriate research and reasoning.
- Commented on the postings of at least two peers

Discussion
What is the current U.S. population? What is the current world population? Considering those numbers, do you think the United States is in a population crisis? Do we have enough land and resources to support a continuous increase in population? Should we, as a nation, concentrate on controlling our population or controlling resource use?
Please include the name of the person or question to which you are replying in the subject line. For example, “Tom’s response to Susan’s comment.”
RESPOND TO OTHET STUDENT’S COMMENT BELOW ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Over population leading to a food crisis is a good topic and leads to food manufacturers and producers using uunnatural means of making food look better, taste better (arartificially), and grow faster (of course unnaturally. ) This in return makes it unsafe for us the American consumers who eat these foods for survival. The current U.S. population according to a 2017 poll is 325.7 million. This number is a recording from a 2017 poll, and it’s currently 2018 and that number is even higher now obviously. The current wold population is 7.3 billion, and this number brings into question why hunger exists in such a worldwide crisis. The issue of hunger and overpopulation does come into play when mentioning a number so big as 7.3 billion people. To supplement with this many people with land, food, and resources leads to poverty, suffering, hunger and a living hell as we do not have the means/resources to feed supplement such a large group of people. As a nation we should bring awareness to consequences of over population and concentrate our efforts on controlling the efforts to produce so many offspring’s if no means of resources are present in the taking care of them.
This week in Practice and Reinforce” the focus was on succession, so the forum this week will focus on species interactions. You saw just a few examples of adaptations that plants and animals have developed to protect themselves from predators. Your task for this forum is to seek out your own example of an adaptation that benefits a species of your choosing and present it to your classmates. This could be any type of animal with any adaptation covered in the lecture and reading materials: Mimicry, chemical defense, camouflage, warning coloration (just to name a few).
Research your chosen animal and create a new discussion post, addressing the following aspects:
Use the name of your chosen animal as the post title.
Points will be deducted for duplicate entries (unless the time stamps on both posts are very close together, suggesting they were being written at the same time).
Present your animal and your adaptation.
Discuss native habitat, other species the animal typically interacts with including predators and competitors.
Think about community interactions and co-evolution as you explore your chosen species.
Discuss how the animal’s adaptation helps them survive, as well as how its predators/competitors have evolved in response to this adaptation.
Include a picture to in your post.
(or at the very least a link to a site that has an image).
To receive full credit, you must:
- Write in complete sentences that are thoughtful, well written, and free of typos.
- Address all parts of the forum topic.
- Use vocabulary presented in the learning materials appropriately.

An example of how the discussion should look like
rctic wolves have many adaptations for living in the cold. One of them is size. The bigger the wolf are, the more warmth. Arctic wolves have two layers of fur. The outer one is thicker and conserves heat while the inner one is a waterproof layer, sort of like a scuba diving suit. That way they can survive snow and the cold, while the thickness and the ability to conserve warmth decrease during summer. Arctic wolves have smaller ears than other wolves since that also helps them conserve heat. The paws on a wolf are padded with fat to give them a grip on snow and ice and also to protect them from the cold ground. Arctic wolves must travel over large distances to hunt their main prey, musk ox and caribou (or reindeer). They will prey on smaller animals, such as arctic hares, arctic foxes, lemmings, and waterfowl. Sometimes, they will scavenge the leftover prey of a polar bear. Arctic wolves are carnivorous, and since there is such little plant life in the arctic anyway, they only eat meat.

Health statistics demonstrate that morbidity (sickness) and mortality (death) rates for specific diseases and other health issues (e.g., violence, accidents, homicide) are different for men and women. For example, men are diagnosed with and die from specific cancers, such as lung cancer and colon cancer, at higher rates than women do. Women are diagnosed with breast cancer at higher rates than men (though more than 1,000 men each year are diagnosed with breast cancer). While this difference in disease and disorder prevalence and mortality is interesting, it would be useful to know why there are differences between men and women.
Biological differences between men and women in areas such as hormones and immune response certainly can contribute to health differences between the sexes, but in order to fully explore their causes, other variables must be examined. An important area to consider when looking at health and gender is behavior. That is, do men and women behave differently when it comes to health? Health-related behaviors fall into two basic categories: preventative behaviors and direct health-related behaviors. For example, seeing a physician for an annual check-up and health screening, eating well, exercising, and maintaining low stress levels are preventative behaviors. Engaging in high-risk sports and smoking are direct health-related behaviors. Gender differences in health behaviors must be interpreted carefully. For example, frequency of doctor visits—which is higher among women—should not necessarily be interpreted as a reliable indicator of higher morbidity in women, since women tend to engage in more preventative health behaviors.
A second group of variables related to gender differences in health issues is made up of the confounding variables that your text refers to as artifacts. These include physician bias and how the health care system treats men and women. For example, men and women are screened differently, diagnosed differently, and treated differently for many health problems. It also includes differences in socioeconomic status, such as education and income, that correspond to health outcomes.
Lastly, gender differences in social roles may contribute to health differences. Physically demanding careers held more often by men may lead to greater health risks such as job-related injury. On the other hand, women’s traditional role as family caretaker can also lead to health risks such as poor self-care and fatigue.
For this Discussion, you will analyze gender-related differences in physical health for a specific health issue of your choosing. You will not only explore its incidence and causes, but will also share potential strategies to mitigate risk.
To prepare
· Review this week’s Learning Resources, focusing on the gender-related differences and similarities in issues related to health.
· Select a physical health issue that interests you that has gender-related differences, and research this health issue using the Walden Library and other reputable academic sources.
· Search the literature for effective strategies to mitigate the risk of the health issue.
Reading for this week, and please review this week’s readings and try to incorporate in your answer.
