Minor Paper #2 – Personal Traits and Advisor Application
This course is divided in four areas:  Knowing, Being, Doing, and Sharing.
Part 1. Knowing Thyself.
Before you can lead or advise others, you must know how to lead yourself.  This requires knowing yourself.  Sooner or later the real you will be revealed. Many leaders have been caught in unspecified sins, and when asked the question, “What were you thinking? Why did you do this?” They are often clueless.
How well you know yourself will ultimately determine how you live your life.  Not knowing yourself becomes obvious sooner or later.   You do not get to know yourself simply by growing up and growing old. Knowing yourself is a conscious effort; you do it with intention and purpose.
Students will explore how well they know-self. We are not talking about taking a personality test or learning about your family history. Neither are we talking about your favorite colors, your best childhood friend or your sports team.  We are talking about something much greater and of higher consequence. We are talking about who you are at your core, what most matters to you, what makes you come alive, what feeds your soul and what drains your spirit, and how to know the difference so you choose well as you move forward in life.
If you don’t know yourself all that well, you may still live a life in alignment with who you are but only by accident or some sheer stroke of luck. And that is too big a risk to take, so it is important that you live in alignment with who you are not by accident or luck, but rather on purpose, by intention, by design.
Assignment:
There are several ways individuals can discover how to know yourself well. One way to do that is to learn your values, passions and goals. Another is to ask the right questions. Farnoosh Brock, author of a blog called Prolific Living has developed 29 Questions to Self-Discovery. These questions will open the door to having a real conversation with yourself under God’s guidance. You are requested to answer these questions honestly for yourself.
When you are ready to do this, copy these questions into a text document, quiet all outside distractions, take a few deep relaxing breaths, make a great cup of tea, clear your mind of noise and clutter and dive in.
Know that there are no right or wrong answers. There is only you uncovering the process of building a closer relationship with the person within.

  1. What activity in your life lights you up with joy?
  2. What is something you always love doing, even when you are tired or rushed? Why?
  3. If a relationship or job makes you unhappy, do you choose to stay or leave?
  4. What do you fear about leaving a bad jobor a bad relationship?
  5. What do you believe is possible for you?
  6. What have you done in your life that you are most proud of?
  7. What is the thing that you are second most proud of?
  8. What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
  9. How does your being here in the universe change humanity for the better?
  10. If you could have one single wish granted, what would it be?
  11. How comfortable are you with your own mortality?
  12. What is your highest core value?
  13. To your best knowledge, how do other people perceive you?
  14. How would you like others to perceive you?
  15. How confident are you in your abilities to make decisions for yourself?
  16. What is your biggest self-limiting belief?
  17. Who is the most important person in your life?
  18. Who is your greatest role model?
  19. Who is a person that you don’t like yet you spend time with?
  20. What is something that is true for you no matter what?
  21. What is your moral compass in making difficult decisions?
  22. What is one failure that you have turned into your greatest lesson?
  23. What role does gratitude play in your life?
  24. How do you feel about your parents?
  25. How is your relationship with money?
  26. How do you feel about growing old someday?
  27. What role has formal education played in your life and how do you feel about it?

CME Group had somewhat of a breather during the June quarter. Fol- lowing a stellar showing during the first quarter, the top and bottom lines fell, both sequentially and year over year for the latest period. In all, share earnings slipped 2% on a 7% revenue decline. Even though it recorded decent gains in Market Data, Information Services, and Other revenues, clearing and transaction revenues slid al- most 11% during the June quarter, and dragged on its recent performance. Still, the exchange operator ought to post good comparisons this year. Coronavirus-related headwinds and ensu- ing market uncertainty may impact re- sults during the back half of the year, however, the volatile environment could increase trading activity and boost parts of CME’s business. Too, CME will likely bol- ster efficiencies and reduce operating ex- penses, which should aid margins moving forward. All told, share earnings will prob- ably advance between 10% and 15% for the full year, while revenues increase 5%- 10%. Likewise, the top and bottom lines should climb at a low single-digit clip through 2021.
CME Group has been strengthening its operations. The integration of acqui- sitions (including the NEX addition, com- pleted in 2018) should continue to bear fruit in the near term. Meanwhile, it has been focused on product innovation, specif- ically rolling out new offerings or tools and services to help its clients better manage risk and navigate market volatility. For example, in September, CME rolled out the FX Options Volatility Converter Tool. Plus, the exchange operator rolled out several new futures over the last few months, including the reintroduction of 3- year Treasury Note futures, Micro E-mini futures, and water futures. Technological enhancements will likely remain a key priority moving forward. These good quality shares are neutrally ranked for year-ahead price performance. Moreover, this issue does not stand out for its long-term capital ap- preciation potential. CME comes with a Safety rank of 2 and Financial Strength of A, however. And it offers a worthwhile div- idend yield. Consequently, CME holds decent risk adjusted income appeal. Orly Seidman October 9, 2020

comment and reply on the following two sources, 120 words for each.
1. Business owners should take the time to discuss the control each will exert over the organizations activities because it creates clear and concise structure within the organization. For example, this helps with clear delegation within each department and will help save any confusion on what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. Managers will have set regulations on department activities which may differ based on leadership style and expectations from team members. If there is no clear delegation then this can cause confusion and will affect not only the team but will affect other departments that they work closely with. Management is responsible over any deadline that is missed and or any work that the team could not complete. This puts pressure on the managers which is why they are strict about setting expectations. This is the reason why it is important for business owners to discuss the control to ensure smooth transition in meeting deadlines.
2. Discussing the control each business member/entity exerts is primarily based on the different business structures.
A business can either be:

  • Sole proprietors- This is the most common business structure. This business gives complete control to one owner.
  • Corporations- This a more complex structure. This business is comprised of shareholders and board of directors. A director is the head and most be elected in. He or She has a limit on how long they can manage. Members of the corporation have to comply with regulations and tax requirements.
  • Partnerships- This usually consist of two or more owners. Each member has a contribution to the business. It can either be monetary or job skill. Each member expects a return on what they put in. How control is distributed in this type of business is very important. Lack of legal printout of responsibilities are end a business
  • Limited Liability Company (LLC)- LLCs are quite popular. In this business structure the corporation becomes its own entity. This entity handles the responsibilities of the business.

Who does what and how is crucial to how a business is run. This decision is very important so a legal layout must be implemented which defines the rights and liabilities of each member of the business. This layout also defines the owner’s personal liabilities, their lifespan, ownership and control. This decision has long term connotation.
An inability to come to a decision on what degree of control each member has can result in managerial deadlock. This can affect the activity and flow of a business which can in turn affect profit, business reputation and business stability.
