Assignment 1: Article Critique [Major Assessment 4] DNP graduates are expected to apply research findings and integrate nursing science into evidence-based practice. To develop your ability to engage in this high level of nursing practice, you will analyze the strengths and weaknesses of a research study over the next several weeks using the concepts presented throughout Weeks 1 through 9 of the course. Your final analysis will be a 5- to 7-page paper that includes the following: • Brief one to two paragraph overview of the study • Two to three strengths of the study and support for your selection (i.e. why is this a strength) • Two to three weaknesses of the study and support for your selection (i.e. why is this a weakness) • Note: The strengths and weaknesses you identified should be in relation to design, sampling, data collection, statistical analysis, results and discussion of the study • Proposed changes to improve the quality of the study, capitalizing on the strengths and improving on the weaknesses identified in the study • Summary of the implications for nursing practice The purpose of the analysis is to help you develop a deeper understanding of the research process, to inspire you to think critically and deeply about research on a specific topic, and to strengthen your ability to integrate research findings into evidence-based nursing practice. This assignment also gives you practice in analyzing the research literature, which will support you when you begin your DNP project. Before you proceed, please review the rubric for this assignment, which is located in the Grading section in the left-hand navigation menu of this course. Keep in mind that you will be working on your article critique throughout Weeks 2 through 9 with your critique due by Day 7 of Week 9. By Day 7 of Week 9 To prepare for this week’s assignment complete the following: • Select one of the four research articles cited in this week’s required readings. • Review the various quantitative research designs presented in the textbook readings and research articles and discussed in the “Musings: Aligning Research Question and Methodology” media. • Consider the research design used in your selected article. Ask yourself the following questions. Is the design appropriate for the study? Would a different design provide better results? You are not required to submit this assignment this week. Select one of the following articles to use for this week’s Assignment: Fouquier, K.F. (2011). The concept of motherhood among three generations of African American women. Note: You will access this article from the Walden Library databases. This is the assignment that was done form me by one of your tutors. The instructor have sent it back to me for the second time because she said the ariticle that was used needs to be critiqued. Can you please have a tutor to read this assignment that was done by your tutor and critique the article this assignment needs to be done correctly so that I can pass my class. I have paid for this assignment twice. This is the assignment that was done . Can you please look at the articles to see which one the tutor used and critique the Article. Please Nursing practice critique Introduction Nursing is practice that has high expectations. The nurses must provide the the highest standards in terms of care to clients and patients. Therefore, the nurses are expected to offer provisions of evidence-based practices at all times. According to Scholars, the evidence based practices must incorporates expertise from proffesionals, preference and patient needs in order to achieve the best evidence. The big question is “ how do you identify best evidence?”. This essay seeks to evaluate a unique quantitative nursing research with relevance to the practice, while dealing with chronic diseases or conditions which are prevalent all over the world. The author intends to review ‘health-related quality care to cancer patients. It is important to note that in the nursing practice there are many appraisal tools which are available in the healthcare sector. These tools assist in critiquing and analysing primary research aspects. These models can be developed in relation to and over standardised conceptualisations which constitute the rigour and quality in the nursing research ( Polit, D.F & Beck, C.T, 2008). Nursing is practice that has high expectations in the nursing community and the world at large. The nurses must provide the highest standards in terms of care to clients and patients. Therefore, the nurses are expected to offer provision of evidence-based practices at all times. The process entails provision of care, which must be based upon available as expalined in primary appraisal research. Improvement in the nursing practice applies to evidence in the theoretical and clinical skills and knowledge, which must have the resources to assess and acceess quality of relevant research. According to Scholars, the evidence based practices must incorporates expertise from proffesionals, preference and patient needs in order to achieve the best evidence ( Polit, D.F & Beck, C.T, 2008). . The big question is “ how do you identify best evidence?”. To identify best evidence, nurses and care givers must undertake critical reviews and evaluation on the research practice studies. The research will enable them to identify the best quality applicable to the practice. These models can be developed in relation to and over standardised conceptualisations which constitute the rigour and quality in the nursing research. In order to completely attain or pinpoint the purposes of this report, the we intend to use primary tools to make references to multiple critiquing information and guides. Discussions ( Titles, qualifications, abstract, litarature and introduction review, hypothesis, operation definations , methodology, subject, sample collection, data collection, ethical considerations, results, data nalysis and discusion.) ( Polit, D.F & Beck, C.T, 2008). 1. Titles Research is a term that can be described as the purpose of the study. It can be an indicative purpose of study which is clearer in nature. The nature of research should examine the relationship between social support, cancer treatment, health related quality and symptom experience. Concise is a unique term used to describe focus. It indicates the nature of a more indicative study into the same. From a population sample taken, it was apparent that the abstracts were of a casual model. Casual is a word that means or suggests the essence of a quantitative variable. This never clearly indicate the approach used but argues on an inclusive title and nature of study (Polit, DF, Beck, CT & Hungler, BP 2001) . 2. Qualifications The qualifications of the authors in the nusring practises critique should be provided inclusive of the names of all the nurses registered. The education levels must be indicated. These may include post graduate degree holders, and doctrates among many others. It is also required that all the nusrses work in or within the university or hospital complex context. 3. Abstract From a nursing practise critique point of view, provision of a nursing abstract, which is and can be identified by the comments by Cormack (2000) is vital in the introduction of this anlysis. This can be effectively summarised using the identification of variables which have been tested before. The hypothesis lacks in the sample study which would identify the vital research tools to be used. The results must be included in the conclusions summary from the findings. In this way, the abstract is not a representation in the analysis and can therefore not identify the relevance and the interests of the same. This simply indicates a quantitative paper can be used as a recognisable data collection tool. 4. Introduction and Literature Review Many scholars and experts have in the past separated literature reviews and introduction. However, in this case both are contiguous. It has been noted that the cases reported in the studies, may be convention of publications itself, and not a preference in this study. The contextualise problem related to research of “health-related quality of life (HRQL)” for suffering from cancer, has its impact on individuals lives on a daily basis. The theory discusses advances and changes in diverse options in treatment and the impact the diseas has on the individuals and family as well. The topics highlights including cancer treatment and amongst many others (Polit, DF, Beck, CT & Hungler, BP 2001). 5. The Hypothesis The hypothesis takes a peak at the research question which is the purpose of the study. It presents an hypothesis as opposed to presenting question research. The hypothesis must examine social support for cancer patients at advanced stages, symptom experinces and othe care strategies. The hypothesis also looks at the statement nature which suggests an experimental cancer study within the quantitative research paradigms.. 6. Methodology The methodology used in the provision of evidence-based practices does not discuss the quantitative approach choices in relation to the Methodology focusbut rather focuses on instruments analysis in use. In thisway, quality seems to be directed to the quantitative approach choices, and data collection instrumental choices. The quantitative research approache also offers the best if not better standards of evidences, generally much greater replication abilities and rigour. Healthcare practice research should be concentrated upon quantitative studies based on unique qualitative paradigms (Polit, DF, Beck, CT & Hungler, BP 2001). Effective research analycal instruments must be described and explained in detail in order toensure that the methodology overcomes quantitative research limitations. 7. Sample selections Sample selections should analyse weakness in a quantitative study. Sample sizes should be stated and determined statistically, this could also be considered weaknesses, in chieving statistically complete and sound samples sizes within every quantitative research. 10. Data Collections Heath and nursing data collection and dispatch procedures should be described adequately. In this case, it is vital to use questionnares to identify replications and convinience. The issue research issues are vital data collection analitical tools, and the questionnaires should be considerate of the administered issues. it can not be possible to ensure that checking is carried out totally but from an intended target point of view. As vulnerable cancer patients attend clinics, data can be collected from during the visits in this way the findings will constitute ethical issues ( Polit, D.F & Beck, C.T, 2008). 11. Ethical Consideration Ethical considerations look into ethical approved appropriate body’s, informed from consent achieved consents, which are considerd ethically. However, information explanations should be given participants. The informed consents must be achieved, and every controversial issue communicated or made accessible to all concerned parties 12. Results The study results should be presented by use of diagrams, tables and in text. The main results and issues must be presented, but the presentation of data dteailed from asummarised section.anIt is vital to ensure that findings less accessible. Transparency should not be overlooked as it is one of the key elements in study reporting and the determination of results. 12. Data analysis 14. Conclusions The conclusion supports the results obtained (Polit, D.F & Beck, C.T, 2008), although it is not a very detailed summation of the complexity of the findings. However, this is referred to in the ‘Implications and Recommendations’ section. (Polit, D.F & Beck, C.T, 2008). 15. Recommendations The authors of this study suggest that ‘social support’ would have the strongest effect on HRQL((Polit, DF, Beck, CT & Hungler, BP 2001)). They recommend a wide range of strategies to support this, and also look at all the other factors, making recommendations for improving care for this patient population. Conclusion Nursing is practice that has high expectations. The nurses must provide the the highest standards in terms of care to clients and patients. Therefore, the nurses mostly expected to offer provision of evidence-based practices at all times. The process entails provision of care, which must be based upon available as explained in primary appraisal research. Improvement in the nursing practice applies to evidence in the theoretical and clinical skills and knowledge, which must have the resources to assess quality of relevant research. According to Scholars, the evidence based practices must incorporate expertise from professionals, preference, and patient needs in order to achieve the best evidence. These tools assist in critiquing and analyzing primary research aspects. These models must be developed in relation to hand over standardized conceptualizations, which constitute the rigor and quality in the nursing research. Practice Plan
For this assignment you will create a practice plan that will prepare you to take your place as a clinical mental health counselor who serves a selected population in your community. Completing this assignment will require you to think about the context in which you will someday serve clients—the historical context, the network of mental health services currently available to clients in your community, and the labor market context that may influence your selected area of practice. This assignment will also invite you to envision yourself participating in a professional organization that supports clinical mental health counselors and the counseling profession.
This is your paper’s introduction (one paragraph). An effective introduction prepares the reader by identifying the purpose of the paper and providing the organization of the paper.  In the body of your paper, indent the first line of each paragraph. Double space throughout (with no extra spaces between paragraphs), and use 12-point Times New Roman. For the purposes of this assessment, simply replace this text with a brief paragraph in your own words stating what this paper will cover, thus cuing the reader as to what will follow.
Historical Background
Identify and describe a population whom you would like to counsel someday (for example, children, teens, seniors, LGBTQ individuals, individuals with a particular disability or disorder). Provide reasons why you think you would find this area of counseling rewarding. When providing these personal reasons, it is acceptable to use first-person voice.
In another paragraph, concisely summarize the history and development of clinical mental health counseling, including key events that have influenced counseling services available for this population. This section should be about one page and should be in third-person voice.
Network and Practice
Describe the network of mental health counseling services available for a client from your selected population, based on your Internet search of all agencies that offer mental health services for your selected population in your community. Include services that are available across the continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient, partial treatment and aftercare options.
In a second paragraph, identify a potential professional niche for yourself within this network of services. Offer your review of information available in O*Net, the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT), and the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH). Analyze the skills, educational requirements, and average earnings of a counselor in your state.
Supervision and Consultation
Describe a plan for receiving post-masters clinical supervision that meets ethical requirements of the American Counseling Association and legal requirements in your state, referencing specific points in the ethical and legal codes. Cite the codes as you describe your plan, and include the codes in the References section of your paper.
Next, describe resources in your professional community with whom you could engage in case consultation. Identify practices you would use so that your case consultation would meet ethical and legal requirements. Cite specific ethical or legal codes that will guide you when you need to seek consultation about a case.
Professional Organizations
In this section, identify several national, state, regional, or special interest professional organizations that will support your practice as a professional counselor. Describe several ways in which you will benefit from affiliation with these professional counseling organizations.
Conclusion
Provide a brief conclusion for your paper.  Mention that your Professional Counseling Disclosure Statement is presented in Appendix A.

Professional Counselor Disclosure Statement
Present a polished draft of your Professional Counselor Disclosure Statement here.  For purposes of this assessment, you may assume that you are a fully licensed counselor with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Design your Statement so that it is clear and succinct.  It must include your certifications, licenses, and educational credentials, as well as your professional memberships that support an area of expertise. Include additional information that will allow you to meet ethical and legal standards for disclosing essential information to clients who are beginning counseling in your care.
A feasibility analysis is a chance to open your eyes, ask  yourself some very tough questions, then check to see whether your idea,  as originally conceived, needs to be modified, refocused, or changed  dramatically. (Or perhaps even scrapped altogether.)” (Abrams, as cited  in Scarborough & Cornwall, 2015, p. 237).
With this assignment, you will be addressing the fundamental question: Does this business have profit potential?
Referring  to the same business you either started or purchased in the first  assignment, write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

  1. Conduct a feasibility analysis in which you research:
    1. Industry and Market Feasibility
    2. Product or Service Feasibility
    3. Financial Feasibility
    4. Entrepreneurial Readiness
  2. Based on your assessment, does the business idea need to be modified, changed significantly, or abandoned? (Note: If you abandon the business idea, then you will need to select and analyze a new business that has profit potential.)
  3. Include at least two (2) references outside the textbook.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • This course requires use of Strayer Writing Standards  (SWS). The format may be different than other Strayer University  courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for  details (more information and an example is included in the Strayer  Writing Standards left menu link).
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Describe and analyze the necessary activities and key decisions to start a small business.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in small business management.
  • Write clearly and concisely about small business management using proper writing mechanics.
Assessing for Emotional Intelligence
Competence, technical skills, integrity and determination are traits most people would agree are important for leadership. But what about self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills? Daniel Goleman, author of numerous books and articles on emotional intelligence, including his seminal work Emotional Intelligence (1995), believes these “softer skill” traits, which are associated with emotional intelligence (EI), are equally important for leaders. In fact, some would argue that emotional intelligence, as opposed to cognitive ability, is the key to successful leadership performance.
Analyze the use of assessments of emotional intelligence in evaluating the potential of individuals for senior leadership positions. Then, select three specific assessments of emotional intelligence (do not select the EISA). Review and evaluate each assessment instrument. In a paper of at least 1750 – 2100 words (or 5 -7 pages) in length (excluding title, abstract, and reference pages), address the following:

  1. Discuss the concept of EI and its evolution as a factor associated with leadership performance. How do researchers classify EI—as a distinct component of intelligence or as a set of personality or behavioral characteristics? Why is this classification important when considering the use of assessments of EI for senior leadership?
  2. Debate the idea that EI is as critical, or perhaps more critical, than cognitive ability in determining leadership success. Compare and contrast views of researchers on this issue.
  3. For each of the three different assessments of emotional intelligence you have selected, describe the theoretical framework upon which each assessment is based, the typical uses for each assessment, and the target population(s) for each assessment.
  4. Discuss each instrument’s reliability and validity, as well as administration considerations and costs to either the user or to the organization administering the assessment.
  5. Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using each assessment for its intended purpose. Under what circumstances would you recommend its use? When would you NOT recommend its use and why?

Support your analysis and discussion with at least three journal articles, in addition to references to required course readings (textbook and articles), and any Internet sites you reference to gather information about the assessments you have chosen.

Your instructor will choose the discussion question and post it as the first post in the discussion forum. Answer all the questions in the prompt, and read any resources that are required to complete the discussion properly.
Guided Response: In addition to your original post, post a minimum of three responses for a total of at least four posts. At least two responses must be to your classmates; the third response could be to a classmate or your instructor. Be sure to post on three separate days throughout the week to promote further engagement and discussion. Each response should be a minimum of 75 words.

In the required reading this week we learned about the following argument forms: Deductive arguments, statistical syllogisms, arguments from analogy, appeals to authority, and inductive generalizations.
Choose three of the five argument forms and create an example of each. Your arguments do not have to be great arguments (you will analyze their quality below), but they should clearly be instances of the argument types you chose in question (make sure to indicate what argument type each one is).
After each argument, provide a brief analysis of its quality. If it is deductive, is it valid? Is it sound? If it is inductive, is it strong? Is it cogent? (Be sure to read the definitions from the text.)What might be done to improve the argument? What can people do to better understand and apply this type of argument in general?
Guided Response: In addition to your original post, post a minimum of three responses, at least two of which must be to your classmates. The third response could be to a classmate or your instructor. Be sure to post on three separate days throughout the week to promote further engagement and discussion. Each response should be a minimum of 75 words.

Throughout the next six weeks, you will plan and propose a quantitative research design of your choice, which may (or may not) involve an area of interest for your doctoral dissertation. You will select a research topic, generate testable hypotheses, review relevant literature, describe participant selection procedures, identify data collection methods, describe the proposed quantitative research design, address potential ethical problems, and describe limitations of your research proposal.
This assignment is the second step toward completing your final research proposal in Week 6. Drawing on your topic area, research questions, and hypothesis from Step One, develop a 5-6 page literature review, in addition to the Title Page and References Page, using between 5-7 scholarly resources, including mostly research studies related to your topic. Information should be drawn from scholarly sources (preferably within the past 10 years), such as professional journals, books, and dissertations.
Writing a literature review requires not only summarizing individual studies, but also involves an examination or evaluation of studies in relation to the topic or research area. Some common purposes of literature reviews include: identifying and outlining relevant and existing knowledge on a topic; identifying gaps in research; evaluating and synthesizing information available in line with your own research topic; justifying a rationale for your own research; and evaluating current research. The Mongan & Rallis (2006) website and Appendix A in the textbook will provide you with guidelines and examples regarding how to develop a literature review.
Your literature review should include the following (steps 1, 2, 4 and 5 will be from your Step One Assignment):

  1. Rationale/Problem Statement for the research topic of your choice: Explain your topic. Make a case for why this topic is important to the field of psychology.
  2. Research questions you have developed for your topic: Conclude your discussion of the research topic by identifying specific research question(s) about the relationships between two or more concepts. Use both the textbook and the Pajares (2007) website to formulate specific research questions.
  3. A 5-6 page literature review on the 5-7 articles you selected: Read your articles thoroughly and provide a literature review that synthesizes what was theorized and discovered about regarding your topic. Do not write separate “summaries” for each article; rather, find connected themes or relationships in the different areas you cover. Use these relationships to frame your discussion of how variables were indicated, samples were obtained, and research designs were constructed. Are there any gaps or weaknesses present in the literature that can be investigated further? You will not necessarily refer to all the information from each article; instead, relate only that which is relevant to your topic and research question. Thus, your literature review should justify your study and support why conducting your proposed study would answer a problem that is not already well understood.
  4. Hypotheses that you want to test: Considering your research question or statement of the problem, formulate a hypothesis that states the relationships between the variables and answers the research question. Remember that hypotheses make statements or predictions about something that may be true. Thus, they are hunches or intuitions about what the study’s results may show about the variables being tested.
  5. Dependent and independent variables: Operationally define the dependent and independent variables for each hypothesis

**Remember that your literature review in your Final Research Proposal will need to be a minimum of 8 pages, so please be sure to continue working on this section during Weeks 3-6

· a description of its strategy during the past three years.
Section 1: Financial Statement Analysis
Calculations: Measure your company’s financial ratios of the past three years from the 6 categories below. Then, compare each ratio with its competitor (do the same calculations for the competitor).
(1) Liquidity:
o Current Ratio
o Quick Ratio
(2) Efficiency:
o Total Asset Turnover
o Days Sales Outstanding
(3) Leverage:
o Total Liabilities to Total Assets
o Times Interest Earned (TIE) Ratio
(4) Profitability:
o Profit Margins- Percentage of revenues remaining after deductions:
o Return on Assets (ROA)
(5) Market multiples:
o Price Earnings (P/E) ratio
o Earnings Per Share (EPS)
(6) DuPont Ratio and explain. Please illustrate on each individual part of the DuPont Ratio (profit margin, turnover, and leverage).
Analysis Report:
Based on your calculations, take a thorough analysis of the company’s financial healthiness from the above 6 perspectives. Please write one paragraph for each perspective.
Section 2: Stock Valuation & WACC
Calculations:
· Calculate the company’s intrinsic stock valuation by DDM. If no dividend issued, please use the price multiple approach.
· Calculate the company’s weighted average cost of capital (WACC).
Analysis Report:
· First, based on your calculations, take a thorough analysis of the company’s
Valuation and WACC, one paragraph for each. Specifically, is the company’s stock price currently undervalued or overvalued? Is the company’s WACC high or low in the industry?
· Then, make a recommendation – would would you buy or sell the company’s stock? Especially, what do you expect the impact of Covid-19 on the company’s stock. (Hint: please make decisions based on intended investment holding period.  For example, you may recommend a “buy” if you believe the currently underperforming stock will rebound post Covid-19)

Consequences of a Healthcare Organization not Involving Nurses

Nurses are the backbone of healthcare and when they are not involved in the design and decision-making processes of the Systems Development Life Cycle the results can be catastrophic. According to the authors Powell-Cope & Nelson (2008), nurses are the frontline and chief users of electronic health record (EHR) systems, it only makes sense they’d have a major say in EHR design and upgrades. Unfortunately, however, in many facilities, EHR design is left primarily to IT and only minor input is taken into consideration from the nursing staff. When subject matter experts, such as nurses, don’t have autonomy and responsibility within the design process, implementing and utilizing an EHR can take longer because providers are distanced from the outcomes (Powell-Cope & Nelson, 2008).

Inclusion of Nurses in EHR Design

When nurses are included in technology design, it enables and enhances safety (Hamer & Cipriano, 2013). A study was done in 2009 on early nursing involvement during the implementation of a Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) system. The authors of this study describe how nurses participated in the early design, planning, implementation, and evaluation phases of the BCMA. The study found that the benefits of early nursing involvement in each phase of BCMA technology greatly outweigh the problems that can arise from early nursing involvement (Weckman & Jansen, 2009). This study found that in order to find success when implementing new technologies, it is essential that nurses be involved throughout all phases of the process. Comments and feedback from nurses provide the necessary clues that are needed to resolve underlying systemic issues and can offer possible resolutions.

My Personal Input

My current healthcare facility is changing its EHR system to Epic. They have selected a specific team of nurses and nurse informaticists that are currently part of their healthcare team, to design and adapt the Epic program to meet the institution’s requirements. My facility has named their adaptation of the Epic EHR to Elle. The entire healthcare team has been invited to monthly townhouse meetings which involve disclosing the most recent updates made to Elle and team members are also encouraged to provide input on any modifications they would like to add to Elle. As critical nurses, we are excited that we will finally have a charting system that downloads our vital signs electronically. Before Elle, we had to write our vital signs every 15 minutes on each of our two patients. It might not seem like a big deal, but writing vital signs for two patients can take up a considerable amount of time, especially when a patient is unstable and on multiple drips. If nurses were not involved in the EHR design, downloading vital signs might be something that was overlooked again.
