2. Identify the mission, vision, and philosophy of your selected setting.

Details:

This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

An important role of nursing is to provide health promotion and disease prevention. Review the 2020 Topics and Objectives on the Healthy People website. Choose a topic of interest that you would like to address, in conjunction with a population at-risk for the associated topic. Submit the topic and associated group to your instructor for approval.

Create a 15-20-slide PowerPoint presentation for your topic and focus group. Include speaker notes and citations for each slide, and create a slide at the end for References.

Address the following:

  1. Describe the approved topic and associated population your group has selected. Discuss how this topic adversely affects the population. How does health disparity affect this population?
  2. Explain evidence-based approaches that can optimize health for this population. How do these approaches minimize health disparity among affected populations?
  3. Outline a proposal for health education that can be used in a family-centered health promotion to address the issue for the target population. Ensure your proposal is based on evidence-based practice.
  4. Present a general profile of at least one health-related organization for the selected focus topic. Present two resources, national or local, for the proposed education plan that can be utilized by the provider or the patient.
  5. Identify interdisciplinary health professionals important to include in the health promotion. What is their role? Why is their involvement significant?

Cite at least three peer-reviewed or scholarly sources to complete this assignment. Sources should be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and public health content.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

Please Note: Assignment will not be submitted to the faculty member until the “Submit” button under “Final Submission” is clicked.

Deductive arguments are top-down, working from general principles to specific cases. Inductive reasoning, on the other hand, is bottom-up, working from specific observations and looking for patterns that lead to a general conclusion. Your career path in healthcare and health-related fields will present many problems that will require critical reasoning. Think about potential issues or even issues you have already encountered. Determine what type of critical reasoning – inductive or deductive – best suits the situation – or do you need both? If you are short on ideas, use one of these scenarios as a starting point:

Suppose you are on a committee that has to decide whether to cut nursing staff or social services staff. How would you approach the problem?
Suppose your hospital suddenly sees an enormous increase in emergency room patients, and you are on a committee to investigate the problem and relieve pressure on the ER. How would you approach the problem?

Follow-Up Post Instructions

The Role of Culture in Childrearing

Culture, representing what each individual has learned through his or her unique process of socialization, influences our theories of childrearing. Decisions about whether a 3-month-old should be allowed to “cry it out” or be picked up and soothed; when it is appropriate to begin toilet training; and where a child should sleep at night are all influenced, in part, by each individual’s beliefs. Understanding your own beliefs regarding childrearing and those of the families with whom you work is vital but only the beginning. Early childhood professionals must also be aware of how these beliefs may complement or contradict one another, and the related implications of both.
For this week’s Discussion, you will have the opportunity to explore the potential influence and impact of culture on childrearing practices, and discuss the relevance of developing “cultural competency” as a tool supporting infant/toddler mental health.
Pose the following questions to three to five people, keeping in mind there are no right or wrong answers. Your role is simply to listen and record their responses.

Where should a newborn sleep?
At what age should toilet training begin?
Should 3-month-old children be allowed to cry themselves to sleep at night?
What role does the extended family play in rearing children?
Based on what you have learned about the role of culture in childrearing practices, consider the following questions:

Based on your course readings and interviews, in what ways can culture influence childrearing practices?
How can differences in cultural beliefs between the family and professional impact the professional’s ability to support infant/toddler mental health?
How can developing “cultural competence” support the child development professional’s ability to promote infant/toddler mental health?
By Day 3:

Post your thoughts about how culture can influence childrearing practices and infant/toddler mental health, and the ways in which developing “cultural competency” can support the child development professional’s ability to promote positive outcomes for young children and their families. Include examples from your interviews.

I believe that current regulations and standards provide a balanced approach to addressing the complexities of pricing in various industries. Introducing more regulations may not effectively solve the price issues we face today, as these issues are often driven by supply and demand dynamics. For example, high demand during crises, like the rush for basic supplies after a hurricane announcement or the toilet paper shortages during the pandemic, makes regulating prices challenging when consumers are willing to pay a premium.

Organizations like the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) already work to protect consumers from price gouging, yet finding the right balance remains difficult. One solution could be to cap profit margins by setting a maximum percentage companies can earn, thereby indirectly setting fair prices. Rather than adding new layers of standards, it might be more practical to update existing ones to adapt to evolving market needs, ensuring consistency without overwhelming the regulatory volumes already in place.

Curriculum Planning
Identify a preschool setting that provides educational programs for 3- and 4-year-olds. Arrange to visit and interview a teacher and to observe in his or her classroom for at least two hours. Use the “Interview Guide” document to inform your questions during your scheduled interview.
Keeping in mind all you have learned about the context of the preschool program and the standards that inform its curriculum, plan three learning experiences around a central theme chosen in collaboration with the teacher you interview. Use the template provided in the “Learning Experience Plan Template” document to create the three learning experiences.
Taken together, the three learning experiences must include all content areas addressed in the Rubric (literacy; math, science, and technology; health; play; and the arts) and must address all domains of development (cognitive, social, emotional, and physical). Remember that, because your three learning experiences are designed around an integrated theme, multiple content areas and domains of development will be represented within each learning experience.
Write a 7- to 10-page narrative summary of your threeLearning Experiences that includes a brief description of the central theme and explanations of the following:

  1. How the learning experiences, taken as a whole, reflect at least three indicators of effective curriculum
  2. How the learning experiences reflect appropriate learning standards and the goals identified by the early childhood teacher you interviewed
  3. How knowledge of the children and families informed the learning experiences
  4. How the learning experiences promote language and literacy
  5. How the learning experiences promote math, science, and technology learning
  6. How the learning experiences promote learning in the arts
  7. How the learning experiences promote social, emotional, and physical development
  8. How the assessment strategies used in the learning experiences informed your understanding of children’s learning and development
  9. How play is incorporated into your learning experiences and why this is a vital component of the early childhood curriculum
  10. How the learning experiences you planned can be differentiated to meet the needs of individual children, including those with exceptionalities (Note:Include a description of at least two strategies.)
  11. How you collaborated to develop the learning experiences, including:
    • An explanation of the value of collaborating in the curriculum planning process
    • A description of any challenges you experienced
    • An example of ways you compromised, demonstrated respect, and/or shared responsibility to develop the learning experiences

Note: Submit as one document the 7 – 10 page narrative and the three learning experience templates
