Question Description

Theory–Practice Gap

Objectives:

Fundamentals of Nursing Models, Theories, and Practice discusses the theory-practice gap in detail in many chapters. As you’ve read throughout the course, there is ongoing discussion about the connection between theory and practice, and the application in day-to-day nursing activities. This assignment is designed to illustrate that although there may be a gap, other factors play an important role in decision-making and each aspect of theory, research, and practice experience are integral to well-rounded patient care. review Figure 1.4 Correlation: education, science and practice.

Think of a scenario in which theory, research, and practice interact to create good patient outcomes.

Create a visual representation of the theory-practice relationship or gap by replacing the text in the Theory-Practice Gap diagram template:

Note: Use names, citations, or brief explanations only. The narrative summary should include descriptions and more detailed discussion about each concept in the scenario.

Write a minimum of 525- to 700-word narrative explanation of your visual representation following the diagram.

• Describe the chosen theory, research, and practice guideline or standard.

• Explain the relationship between the three and discuss the role each plays in quality patient care in the scenario.

• Explain any gaps, such as a lack of research, no practice standard, or no useable theory.

• Determine the best course of action for making decisions in the absence of one aspect.

Include documentation of the practice guideline or standard, and your corresponding research, evidence, or literature example.

Cite your research and practice guidelines in-text and on the references page at the end of the template.

I have included the template in the wk 5 assignment file I uploaded

Please create a Power Point to answer the following:
Case study
Ann, a community nurse, made an afternoon home visit with Susan and her father. After the death of her mother, Susan had growing concerns about her father living alone. “I worry about my father all the time. He is becoming more forgetful and he has trouble seeing. Mom used to take care of him. I am not sleeping and I am irritable around him. Yesterday I shouted at him because he wouldn’t let me help him with his laundry. I felt terrible! I am at my wits’ end! My brothers and sisters do not want to put dad in a nursing home but they are not willing to help out. As usual, they have left me with all the responsibility. I work part time and have two small children to care for.” Susan’s father, Sam, sat quietly with tears filling his eyes. He was well nourished and well-groomed but would not make eye contact. Nurse Ann noticed that the house was clean and orderly. A tray in front of the TV had the remains of a ham sandwich and glass of ice tea. Mail was piled up, unopened on a small table near the front door. There was only one car in the driveway and the yard was in need of attention.

What questions does Orlando’s theory guide the nurse to consider in caring for Susan and Sam?
Develop a family plan of care from the perspective of Orlando.

Make sure to provide a link to the article/report.
PART 2:
A group’s/culture’s journey to the US (or not) is an important aspect of their culture. It will be part of defining them and their perspective, so it will be critical for us to understand it. Critically find a video online that discusses the history of the journey of Jewish American Cultures. Provide a short introduction as to why you selected that particular video. Keep in mind that research includes critical selections from what you have found, so be very careful of just picking the first video you find.
