Question Description
Assessment Instructions
PREPARATION
Suppose your organization is concerned about a number of health issues that have either affected an increased number of the residents in the community or show the probability of affecting a larger number of people in the population. Your organizational leaders have asked different health care professionals within the organization, including you, to examine the issues from your perspective, and to submit a report that includes evidence-based ways to address the issues.
You will first need to identify a critical health care issue in your community or state. You may choose either a public health issue, such as sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), measles, Lyme disease, asthma, et cetera; or a community health issue, such as uncontrolled diabetes, congestive heart disease, 30-day readmission, et cetera.
Then, look in the Capella library and on the Internet for statistics and peer-reviewed or professional resources to use in preparing your report.
REQUIREMENTS
Format this assessment as a professional report. It may help to look at reports or other documents used within your organization and to follow that formatting. You must still follow APA guidelines for in-text citations and references, and include a title page and reference page.
Within the report:
- Describe one critical health issue in your community or state that has grown larger or has the potential to become larger. Be sure to include any statistics available on the health issue. Tip: check your county and/or state health department Web site.
- Explain the factors that contribute to this health issue. Consider things such as access to health care services, economics, culture, attitude, education, health care policies, and so on.
- Describe any interventions your community or state has put in place to address the health care issue. Include information on how long the interventions have been in place, how the community was made aware of the interventions, and so on.
- Describe the scope and role of nursing and public health nursing in the interventions to reduce the health issue.
- Recommend evidence-based ways the scope of the interventions could be expanded to increase positive health outcomes. Think in terms of cost, efficiency and access, effectiveness, and the use of both conventional and unconventional interventions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Complete your assessment using the following specifications:
- Title page and reference page.
- Number of pages: 3–4 (not including the title and reference pages).
- At least 3 current scholarly or professional resources.
- APA format for citations and references.
- Times New Roman font, 12-point, double-spaced.

The patient manifests symptoms of persistent depressive disorder and child neglect. In persistent depressive disorder, he exhibits signs of low self-esteem, low energy levels, problems with sleep onset and no motivation for participating in social activities such as his school band. This could be caused by parental neglect after their parents divorced when he was five years old, and there was minimal contact between him and his father.
The appropriate group therapeutic procedures would be meeting with the patient on a weekly basis for a period of fifteen weeks for one hour. A therapist leads the group. In the group, the patient is educated on the symptoms of persistent depressive disorder and the consequences of this disorder (Hellerstein et al., 2001). He is also educated on the benefits and disadvantages of medical treatment. The patient will be encouraged to work actively to confront the symptoms in the early stages of medication. Group therapy will help the patient to develop a sense of control and build on ways of connecting with people. It will help address interpersonal issues such as low self-esteem. Group therapy will help the patient to observe other patients and help them develop more open communication patterns. It will help the patient to address pessimistic thoughts (Hellerstein et al., 2001). The patient will be aware of the inconsistencies in his thoughts, behaviors and feelings and will build on ways of addressing these issues. He will gain an understanding of how to regulate his emotions and his relationship.
There are several ethical issues that clinicians should be aware of when they are counseling children. Counselors face several challenges relating to child treatment which include confidentiality and informed consent. For most counseling issues, the parents have a legal right to know what happens during the child’s counseling sessions, but the degree varies in different regions. Ethically, minors should be granted the same degree of confidentiality that is granted to adults (Sori & Hecker, 2015). The setting of where counseling occurs influences the level of privacy given. For example, a school counselor does not have to disclose information to parents about the counseling session with their child. In some cases where have to access to the records, the providers can regulate what is divulged to the parents especially if the information contained may be harmful to the child if disclosed (Sori & Hecker, 2015).
Counselors need to be aware of informed consent to treat adolescents and minors. Minors and adolescents may contract for counseling through parent consent or through a court order. However, in some countries, minors and adolescents have the right to informed consent without their parents’ consent (Sori & Hecker, 2015). While there are no laws that require counselors to get written permission from parents for their child to receive counseling, obtaining consent from parents is a good practice that counselors uphold unless there is any existing harm towards the minor (Sori & Hecker, 2015).
There is a lot to consider when counseling children to avoid the numerous potential problems that could result in legal and ethical problems. Minors and adolescents have fewer rights apart from those bestowed on them by the country, and counselors should work towards protecting the counseling relationship. Counselors should review their code of ethics and ethical regulations by getting a continuous education on ethical and legal issues.

Although it is important to be familiar with foundational accounting concepts and to understand how they are calculated, it is equally important to recognize how the information from these calculations fits into the larger picture of daily actions in hospitals. Consider the simple task of taking patients their dinner trays. Think of all of the different costs that are involved. The dietitian must be paid, as well as the food handlers. The food has to be purchased as well as the trays and utensils. Trays must be delivered, picked up, and cleaned. A cost is incurred at each stage. In this Discussion, you consider how the costs of the daily tasks performed by nurses are accounted for and impact cash flow.
To prepare: •Review this week’s Learning Resources focusing on the difference between accrual accounting and cash accounting. Conduct additional research as needed until you are confident that you grasp the distinction between the two approaches.
•Consider why you would select one approach over the other and the effect it would have on financial decision making. Determine how you could explain these concepts to someone not familiar with accounting.
•Select a task you might perform daily, or an item that you might use daily in the workplace, and determine where the cost should appear on a balance sheet.
•Reflect on the role of cash in the financial operations of an organization. How could cash flow issues impact your own organization (or one with which you are familiar)?
Post an explanation of the difference between accrual accounting and cash accounting, and when each might be used. Then, describe a task you might perform or an item you might use daily, and explain where the cost should appear on a balance sheet, and why. Finally, assess how cash flow issues could impact your own organization (or one with which you are familiar).

Discussion: Performance and Post-Purchase Evaluations
Performance and post-purchase evaluations provide important marketing data for health care organizations. Many consumers evaluate health care products for their own purposes, but when they share this information with the providing organizations, they offer insights into whether products are meeting consumer needs and expectations. For this Discussion, you conduct performance and post-purchase evaluations on a health care product you have tried.
To prepare:
- Reflect on a time you have consumed a generic product and a brand-named product for the same health condition (e.g., taking Motrin and/or store brand of ibuprofen for headache relief).Note: If you have not had this experience, interview someone who has.
- From the consumer perspective, assess both products using performance and post-purchase evaluations. Consider each of the benefits segments for both products (i.e., cost, effectiveness, convenience, etc.) and whether or not you would purchase either product again.
Discussion: Health Care Marketing Trends
The health care industry is constantly changing and evolving. This impacts many aspects of health care administration, including marketing. New health care marketing trends are emerging, and to remain competitive, organizations must be prepared to implement these trends and engage 21st-century consumers. For this Discussion, you examine the impact of health care marketing trends and recommend strategies to help organizations prepare for the future.
Note: In health care marketing and business communications, strong oral communication is essential. This Discussion was designed to give you the opportunity to practice your oral communication skills by preparing a 2-minute Kaltura video. As you prepare this video (and any communication in the future), consider the following: Who is your target audience? How can you keep the attention of your audience? What is the appropriate length for your message?
To prepare:
Imagine that you are the chief marketing officer for your health care organization. Prepare a 2-minute Kaltura video for the board of directors that addresses the following:
- How might marketing trends impact organizational strategic planning?
- What can the organization do today to better prepare itself for tomorrow’s marketing trends?
Note: If you do not currently work for a health care organization, select one that is of interest to you
To Prepare
- Review your interviews and documentation related to your Final Project.
- Review Chapter 11 of your Summers text regarding addressing and disarming anger.
- Imagine that before you ended your services with the client, the client displayed some inappropriate confrontation, crisis and/or had an angry outburst in front of you.
- Consider how you would document this in a Termination Summary.
- Although your Termination Summary does not need to follow a specific format, refer to pp. 443-447 in your Summers text for ideas.
For this Assignment
Create a 2-page Termination Summary of your work with your interviewee/client from your Final Project interview and document the progress related to the service plan/goals that you created in Week 10. As part of your Termination Summary, document the inappropriate confrontation, crisis and/or angry outburst incident you imagine could happen. Include what your response and the client’s response might be, that might not be the most appropriate (refer to Chapter 11 for ideas). Then, include a plan for managing this type of crisis in the future.
