Description of the Assignment

This assignment presents a modified method for conducting a concept analysis of ONEconcept found in a nursingtheory. The source of the concept for this assignment must be a published nursingtheory. The selected concept is identified and then the elements of the analysis process are applied in order to synthesize knowledge for application within the model and alternative cases. Non-nursing theories may NOTbe used. The paper concludes with a synthesis of the student’s new knowledge about the concept. The scholarly literature is incorporated throughout the analysis.

Only the elements identified in this assignment should be used for this concept analysis.

Criteria for Content

1.   Introduction

The introduction substantively presents all following 4 (four) elements:

§  Identifies the role of concept analysis within theory development,

§  Identifies the selectednursingconcept,

§  Identifies thenursingtheory from which the selected concept was obtained, and

§  Names the sections of the paper.

2.   Definition/Explanation of the selected nursing concept

This section includes:

§  Defines/explains the concept using scholarly literature (a dictionary maybe used for this section ONLY, and additional scholarly nursing references are required), and

§  Information about the concept as discussed by the theorist from the selected nursing theory is substantively presented.

A substantive discussion of this section with support from nursing literature is required.

3.   Literature review

This section requires:

§  A substantive discussion ofat least 6 (six)scholarly nursing literature sources on the selected concept.

§  Themes, ideas, and/or facts about the concept found in the reviewed sources are presented in an organized fashion.

Support from nursing literature is required.

Please Note:Primary research articles about the selected nursing concept are the most useful resource for the literature review.

4.   Defining attributes

For this section:

§  A minimum of THREE (3) attributes are required.

A substantive discussion of this section with support from nursing literature is required.

Explanation: An attribute identifies characteristics of a concept. For this situation, the characteristics of the selected nursing concept are identified and discussed.

5.   Antecedent and Consequence

This section requires the identification of:

§  1 antecedentof the selected nursing concept, and

§  1 consequenceof the selected nursing concept.

A substantive discussion of the element with support from nursing literature is required.

Explanation:An antecedent is an identifiable occurrence that precedes an event. In this situation, an antecedent precedes a selected nursing concept.

A consequence follows or is the result of an event. In this situation a consequence follows or is the result of the selected nursing concept.

6.   Empirical Referents

This section requires the identification of:

§  2 (two)empirical referentsof the selected nursing concept.

A substantive discussion of the element with support from nursing literature is required.

Explanation:An empirical referent is an objective ways to measure or determine the presence of the selected nursing concept.

7.   Model Cases

1 model caseis created by the student and discussed substantively by demonstrating within the case each of the following areas:

§  Definition,

§  All identified attributes,

§  Antecedent,

§  Consequence, and

§  Empirical referent or Measurement

Information from selected nursing theory is applied to the created model case.

A substantive discussion of the element with support from nursing literature isrequired.

Explanation:A model case is an example of the hypothetical individual who demonstrates all of the attributes, antecedents, consequences, and referents noted previously in this assignment.

8.   Alternative Cases

This section requires:

§  The identification of2(two)alternative cases correctly created and presented.The two required alternative cases are:

§  Borderline (absence of one or two of previously identified attributes of the selected nursing concept.

§  Contrary (demonstrates the complete opposite of selected nursing concept)

Applies information from selected nursing theory.

Explanation:Alternative cases represent the opposite of the model case.

For this assignment, two alternative cases are required. These are:

§  Borderline case which is a created case where one or two of the previously identified attributes are missing.

§  Contrary case which is a created case that demonstrate the complete opposite of the selected nursing concept.

9.   Conclusion

This section requires:

§  Summarization of key information regarding:

o Selected nursing concept,

o Selected nursing theory, and

o Application of concept analysis findings to advanced nursing practice.

§  The concluding statements include self-reflection on the new knowledge gained from conducting a concept analysis.

Preparing the Assignment

Criteria for Format and Special Instructions

1.   The paper (excluding the title page and reference page) should be at least 8, but no more than 10 pages. Points will be lost for not meeting these length requirements.

2.   Title page, running head, body of paper, and reference page must follow APA guidelines as found in the 6thedition of the manual. This includes the use of headings for each section of the paper except for the introduction where no heading is used.

3.   The source of the concept for this assignment must be a published nursing theory. Non-nursing theories may NOTbe used.

4.   A minimum of 6(six) scholarly references must be used. Required textbooks for this course, and Chamberlain College of Nursing lesson information may NOTbe used as scholarly references for this assignment. A dictionary maybe used as a reference for the section titled “Definition/Explanation of the selected nursing concept”, but it is NOTcounted as one of the 6 required scholarly nursing references. For additional assistance regarding scholarly nursing references, please see “What is a scholarly source” located in the Course Resources tab. Be aware that information from .com websites may be incorrect and should be avoided.

References are current – within a 5-year time frame unless a valid rationale is provided and the instructor has approved them.

5.   Ideas and information from scholarly, peer reviewed, nursing sources must be cited and referenced correctly.

6.   Rules of grammar, spelling, word usage, and punctuation are followed and consistent with formal, scientific writing.

Policy: Improve Health for Specific At-Risk Populations
Specific populations that are at risk for poor health outcomes
for manageable conditions present unique opportunities for care
improvement. Toward this end, the Task Force recommends that the
targeted interventions detailed below be implemented to address the
special health care needs of specific sub-populations. Strategy
Element #15: Expand the existing evidence-based family home
visiting program for high-risk mothers and evaluate the impact of
home visiting on health disparities. Minnesota children who
experience economic hardships, maltreatment, and other trauma face
distinct risks to their overall health and development. In
Minnesota, 13.7% of pregnant women received inadequate or late (2nd
or 3rd trimester) prenatal care, 15.2% of pregnant women smoked
during their pregnancy, and 4.3 per 1,000 children 12 years and
younger are abused or neglected.
Evidence-based family home visiting has been shown to be an
effective service strategy for very young children and their
families, improving outcomes in lifelong health and well-being,
school readiness, and economic self-sufficiency.
Research-based family home visiting models have proven that for
every public health dollar invested, a return of up to $5.70 can be
expected in savings to programs including Medicaid and food
support. Therefore, the Task Force recommends expanding the family
home visiting program to include voluntarily-enrolled first-time
mothers on Medicaid and pregnant and parenting teenagers in the
Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP).

Imagine yourself in the role of a Nutrition Counselor and Josephine is your client. Josephine is a 20-year-old female who is present for purging disorder, an “Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder” (OSFED).She currently teaches salsa lessons at the community college and is in her last semester of college. She reports she is living at home and the food her mom prepares is not the healthiest because her mom is from Honduras and her father is from Guatemala, so the food is prepared differently. She indicates she has been thin all her life, although she has struggled to maintain her weight since going through puberty, and since she is a salsa instructor, she has to remain fit. She reports she feels very guilty if she has consumed fried foods during the day, but since that is the way her mom primarily cooks, she feels awful to tell her mom to stop cooking that way. She reports if she does consume too much fried foods or junk food, she will run at least 2-3 miles that day or else force herself to vomit, but all the food does not come out. She reports sometimes if she has a later class, she will not eat dinner or only eat 1 meal per day. Getting the file ready to submit to the Moodle drop box
 
Windows. Save the Notepad document as an HTML file.  Click File > Save As and change the ‘Save as type’ setting from ‘txt’ (its default) to ‘All files’ and then manually add ‘html’ as the file extension.  So, for example, if you were going to save the file as ‘SomeTags’, you would actually type: ‘SomeTags.html’. Submit the HTML file to the drop box in the normal way.
 
Mac. TextEdit on a Mac will automatically add an ‘.rtf’ extension to whatever file name you give your web page. So if you save ‘SomeTags.html’ to the Mac Desktop, it will show up there as ‘SomeTags.html.rtf’. You will have to manually remove the ‘.rtf’ extension afterwards so that only the ‘.html’ extension remains. Submit the HTML file to the drop box in the normal way.
 
Chromebook. As soon as you open Text (before you even start typing) go to Save As and name your file: ‘SomeTags.html’. Then start typing your actual HTML code, hitting Save every once in a while. To check your work, click Files, right-click SomeTags.html, and choose Open > View. When it’s done submit the HTML file to the drop box in the normal way.

This is the first of three assignments which, as a whole, will cover all aspects of the project life cycle relevant to your selected project.

Scenario

You have been selected to be the Project Manager for a project of your choice. The project you decide to use must be one of a professional nature and must last for at least twelve months. In addition, the project should meet the key criteria of a project, such as:

  1. Has a beginning and an end.
  2. Results in something being delivered to someone.
  3. Requires a series of activities that must be done to complete the project
  4. Requires resources (e.g., people, materials) to complete the work.

Note: You are prohibited from using projects that can be found on the Internet, including projects found in places like CourseHero. All project submissions are submitted to SafeAssign for review.

Instructions

Write a 2–3 page paper in which you define the scope of your chosen project. In your paper you must:

  1. Provide a brief summary of your chosen project.
  2. Describe at least three project goals and three project objectives.
  3. Identify the key customer(s) and at least two stakeholders for your project. Remember, you are delivering the project to your customer(s); however, there are others (stakeholders) who have a vested interest in your project.
  4. Describe at least three key milestones and/or deliverables for your project.
  5. Describe a high-level timeline that includes key tasks and deadlines.
  6. Estimate the project’s overall cost and any key staffing and non-staffing resources needed.
  7. Use at least three quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar websites do not qualify as quality resources.
