Personal Leadership Training Plan: Final

In Units II, IV, V, and VI, you designed PowerPoint presentations on different elements of your Personal Leadership Training Plan. Now, you will put all of the sections together into one PowerPoint presentation. Make revisions to your previous sections based upon your feedback from your instructor. Additionally, you will add a description of a company or leader you admire and what you can learn from this company or leader.

Start by reviewing your instructor’s feedback from Units II, IV, V, and VI, and then meet the following criteria:

  • Combine all PowerPoints into one presentation, and make revisions based on your instructor’s feedback and new knowledge.
  • Add introduction and conclusion slides (two slides).
  • Select either a leader or company you admire that experienced a major change in organizational culture.
  • Explain that change and the circumstances surrounding that change (seven slides minimum).
  • Explain how you can learn from this change (two slides minimum).

You are required to use at least one outside source for this assignment. All sources used must be cited and referenced according to APA format. You are not required to add additional slides to the portions submitted in previous units (unless otherwise instructed by your professor).

Resources

The following resource(s) may help you with this assignment.

Please closely read Chapter Six, “Creative Surroundings,” from Csikszentmihalyi’s book Creativity.
After you have read and thought about the chapter, click Activity 14: Creative Surroundings or Creative Spaces. Within this topic, click “Create Thread.” Enter the subject line of your choice. It should be something that calls attention to the topic(s) you will be writing about in your post. This chapter includes cities, domains, offices, homes, cars, and natural landscapes as potential “creative surroundings.” In one detailed post, write several paragraphs reflecting on ways in which our surroundings can affect our creative process. As with the earlier activities, keep it casual, but put some support behind your claims.
Due at the end of the day on Wednesday, November 4.
OR
Creative Spaces
Read Chapter Five, “Creative Spaces” from Cousineau’s Stoking the Creative Fires.
After you have read and thought about the chapter, click Activity 14: Creative Surroundings or Creative Spaces. Within this topic, click “Create Thread.” Enter the subject line of your choice. It should be something that calls attention to the topic(s) you will be writing about in your post. In one detailed post, consider the types of objects Cousineau recommends including in creative spaces: inspiration for reverie and play; connection to family, history, or community; or reminders of personal passions or curiosities. Describe the space where you usually do your creative work as it is now and then how you would like it to be to maximize your concentration/flow/creativity. Be as specific as possible.
Although studying theory might seem to be an effort separate from practice (e.g., professional activities), good theories emerge from assessing practice. Accordingly, theories can possess some usefulness in prescribing positive actions for leaders and organizations.
Assume you are the manager of a department in an organization. Select two of the theories you learned about this week that you believe will be most useful in managing your staff. (Be sure to review the supplemental readings as well). Select different theories or different combinations of theories than your classmates select. Address the following:

  • Assess why you find the two theories you selected most practical or helpful.
  • Evaluate how the two theories might interact with each other.
  • Analyze whether you anticipate needing different motivational methods applying your selected theories according to the ages, races, national origins, cultures, genders, and educational backgrounds of your subordinates. Provide appropriate citations to support your conclusions.
  • Justify three best practices that emerge from your selected theories (three best practices total. You do not need three best practices for each theory).
Your project must be 7-10 pages. If you thoroughly understand the material so you can stick to key points, you will have no trouble keeping within the page limits. This does not include the title page or references. – Description of the background info on the subject, and what was known before the article you chose – must be well cited. 1-2 pages – a thorough description of the experiments and findings in the primary research article, making sure to also summarize the figures of the paper. 4-5 pages -summarize the news article that stimulated your interest, and discuss any differences in your perception of the scientific research after reading the research article compared to your perception when initially reading what was reported in the original news article. 1-2 pages -Understandability -References used for background info, and the reference of the primary research article you presented. In addition to including the information above, you are expected to demonstrate critical thinking abilities
Plagiarism
Reference Format
For these presentations, you are required to use at least three references. At least one of these must be a primary reference (research article from scientific journals). Secondary references can include textbooks, review articles, and peer-reviewed websites for background information. When using web sites, be sure you are using only reliable sources (no, Wikipedia is a jumping off point, but NOT a reliable source – verify anything you think you learned form Wikipedia with actual sources). Although there are many acceptable ways to include references, for your presentation and project this semester we will use AMA style. The references must be cited consecutively in the body of your presentation (with the exception of the primary reference), with the first reference cited numbered “1”. The references should then be listed in numerical order (in the order in which they appear in the body of your report) in the references section.

Module 2 – Bonds, Stocks, Risk & Return,

  • Lesson PlanLesson 6 – Understanding Financial Markets and Institutions
Lesson 6 – Understanding Financial Markets and InstitutionsHow do funds flow throughout the economy? How do financial markets operate and relate to one another? As an individual investor or a financial manager, you need to know. This chapter looks at the nature and operations of financial markets and discusses the financial institutions (FIs) that participate in those markets. Bonds, stocks, and other securities that trade in the markets are covered in Chapters 7 and 8. We also examine how significant changes in the way financial institutions deliver services played a major role in forming the severe financial crisis that began in late 2008. We look at some of the crisis’s underlying causes, review some of the major events that occurred during that time, and discuss some resulting regulatory and industry changes that are in effect today in Appendix 6A, located in this lesson.
  • Lesson PlanLesson 7 – Valuing Bonds
Lesson 7 – Valuing BondsHow important are bonds and the bond market to a capitalist economy? Those unfamiliar with the financial markets may have the impression that the stock market dominates capital markets in the United States and in other countries. Stock market performance appears constantly on 24-hour TV news channels and on the evening news. By contrast, we seldom hear any mention of the bond market. While bonds may not generate the same excitement that stocks do, they are an even more important capital source for companies, governments, and other organizations. The bond market is actually larger than the stock market. In this chapter, we will explore bond characteristics and their price dynamics. You will see that bond pricing uses many time value of money principles that we’ve used in the preceding chapters.
  • Lesson PlanLesson 8 – Valuing Stocks
Lesson 8 – Valuing StocksIn the last lesson (in chapter 7), we discussed debt, which is one source of financial capital upon which businesses can draw. Their other source of capital is called equity, or business ownership. Public corporations share business ownership and raise money by issuing stocks to investors. When the company sells this form of equity ownership to raise money, it gives up some ownership—and thus some control—over the business. Investors buy stock to receive the benefits of business ownership. Most citizens do not have the time or expertise to operate their own businesses. Buying stock allows them to participate in the profits of economic activities.buy and sell stocks among themselves in stock markets. Well-functioning stock markets are critical to any capitalistic economy.
In this chapter, we’ll discuss stock market operations and stock valuation.
  • Lesson PlanLesson 9 – Characterizing Risk and Return
Lesson 9 – Characterizing Risk and ReturnYou can invest your money very safely by opening a savings account at a bank or by buying Treasury bills. So why would you invest your money in risky stocks and bonds if you can take advantage of low-risk opportunities? The answer: Very low-risk investments also provide a very low return. Investors take on higher risk investments in expectation of earning higher returns. In this chapter, you’ll see how the risk-return relationship fundamentally affects finance theory. We focus on using historical information to characterize past returns and risks. We show how you can diversify to eliminate some risk and expect the highest return possible for your desired risk level. In Chapter 10, we’ll turn to estimating the risks and returns you should expect in the future.
  • Lesson PlanLesson 10 – Estimating Risk and Return
Lesson 10 – Estimating Risk and ReturnIs it possible for investors to know the exact risk they have to take? In Chapters 9 and 10, we explore methods to find the return that individual or institutional investors require to make a particular investment attractive. In the previous chapter, we established a positive relationship between risk and return using historical data. Risk and return play an undeniable role as investors seek the best return for the least risk. But until there’s some way to forecast the future, financial managers and investors must make investment decisions armed only with their expectations about future risk and return. We need an exact specification that directly shows the amount of reward required for investors to take the level of risk in a given firm’s stock or portfolio of securities.
In this chapter, we will also see how investors get the information they need to make risk-reward decisions.
Please make sure that it is your own and not copy and paste off of someone else work. Make sure you watch out for spelling and grammar errors. Please read the study guide. This is a DBA course and needs to be done on this level.

The plan will involve assisting workers in finding other work, offering retraining, offering a severance package, or assisting in relocation to a new facility. Thinking about the corporate social responsibility topics from our readings, what will your main concerns be regarding human resources and leaving the communities that have supported the company for so many years? How will you incorporate these concerns in your transition plan?

What is the nature of the collective bargaining dispute?
What are the underlying causes of the dispute?
What economic or ethical pressures has each side attempted to use to prevail in the dispute?
If there is any evidence of any illegal or unethical conduct on either side, describe it in detail.
Was the dispute resolved? If so, how? If not, what are the possible resolutions?
What, if any, role was played by third parties in resolving this bargaining dispute? What was the identity of the third party?
In retrospect, could this dispute have been resolved in a more constructive fashion? If so, how?
