Paper 2 – Values and Empathy paper

Please respond to the two Scenarios in this paper (See the Answer format attached).    Scenario 1: You are a new nursing student who has been hospitalized for injuries following a major car accident. Earlier today you were told the fracture in your right leg will require complicated surgery to repair and extensive rehab to recover. There is a question as to whether you will ever regain full use of your leg. The surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Tonight you are alone in your hospital room and the night nurse has just entered. What are your concerns when you reflect on this personal patient experience? What will your experience be like? Scenario 2: You realize that you share a different values system from the nurse. You reflect that this might be challenging for you as a nurse someday. These values might be due to differences in lifestyle, cultural background, belief system, or attitudes about health care. Reflect on your own values and identify a personal value/belief that may become a conflict for you in delivering quality patient care.

If parents in the United States objected on blogs to a similar problem, what could crisis communicators do to assure the safety of babies is not compromised? What methods of communications would be most effective? What would be key messages? Any special events or special promotions? If the issue originated on blogs, would you limit the campaign to online communication, or would you also seek the news media? If the complaints were limited to one city, would you respond only in that city?
b. What does the spokesman mean when he said, in his conclusion, “Approach with a human face is the basic part of crisis communication?” (250 words )

Week 1: Healthy People Initiative As the school nurse working in a college health clinic, you see many opportunities to promote health. Maria is a 40-year-old Hispanic who is in her second year of nursing school. She complains of a 14-pound weight gain since starting school and is afraid of what this will do to both her appearance and health if the trend continues. After conducting her history, you learn that she is an excellent cook and she and her family love to eat foods that reflect their Hispanic heritage. She is married with two school-age children. She attends class a total of 15 hours per week, plus she must be present for 12 hours of labs and clinical. She maintains the household essentially by herself and does all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, and chauffeuring of the children. She states that she is lucky to get 6 hours of sleep per night, but that is okay with her. She lives 1 hour from campus and commutes each day. Using.healthypeople.gov/”>Healthy People 2020 (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. and your text as a guide, answer the following questions. What additional information would you like to gather from Maria? What are Maria’s real and potential health risks? Why is Maria’s culture important when obtaining the health assessment? Pick one of Maria’s health risks. What would be one reasonable short-term goal for this risk? What nursing interventions would you incorporate into Maria’s plan of care to assist her with meeting your chosen goal? Please provide rationale for your selections.

Nursing Education, Practice, and Scholarship Learning Outcomes
1. Describe the impact of nursing education on leadership in nursing.
2. Evaluate the difference between didactic and clinical applications.
3. Analyze the roles of scholarship and research as they relate to professional nursing practice.
Introduction
Nursing education is the foundation of professional nursing, as it encompasses the need for growth and development. This week you will be discussing the impact of nursing education on nursing leadership. You will also analyze didactic versus clinical learning. Finally, you will assess how scholarship, evidence-based practice, and research impact professional nursing practice.
1. Professional Role Development Practice Experience: Reflection on Nursing Education.
As many healthcare facilities seek to demonstrate competency through practice; some are opting to reach magnet status. Professional nursing practice is the cornerstone of magnetism, although many hospital committees are forced to change from clinician-centered to patient-centered care. Magnetism requires that nurse leaders obtain at least a bachelor of science in nursing. This is forcing associates- and diploma-prepared registered nurses to seek bachelors and/or master’s degrees in nursing to remain relevant.
For this discussion,
• Reflect on the interview you conducted in Week Two and highlight some of the advantages and/or disadvantages of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• You should also include the following key areas of your Week Two interview: the interviewee’s year(s) of experience as a registered nurse, the trajectory of his or her current position, the impact of BSN education on her or his current practice, and the most important aspect(s) of the job he/ or he highlighted.
• Summarize your thoughts on the information you gathered regarding the impact of education on nursing advancement(s).
2. Didactic Course Versus Clinical Practicum.
Nursing requires a sound balance between education and practice, which provides an antecedent for evidence-based practice. Nursing philosophies lie in didactic instruction prior to practicing. As the guiding principle(s) of professional nursing practice, clinical practicum demonstrates how much information and knowledge the student translates into practice.
For this discussion,
• Address the questions of whether and how what you have learned in school is relevant to what you do on a daily basis.
• Highlight the key components of didactic coursework as covered in this week’s required readings.
Scholarship & Research in Professional Nursing Practice.
The professional nursing student has the opportunity to seek out resources available to obtain scholarships (payment for education in exchange for service) and conduct research that adds to the nursing knowledgebase. For this assignment, find a nursing scholarship that applies to your area of interest. Then, evaluate the resource, addressing the following points:
• Describe your area of interest (Week One problem).
• Identify and describe the scholarship, highlighting the qualifications, and demonstrate your qualification for the scholarship.
• Explain how the scholarship and your area of interest align.
• Discuss what the scholarship offers in terms of usable knowledge and skills.
• Describe how such knowledge can be applied in the job market, workplace, and in a clinical practice.
• Provide a conclusion or series of concluding propositions derived from the main points of the paper, addressing the impact the scholarship would have on your overall educational objective as a professional nurse.
Your Nursing Education, Practice, and Scholarship paper
• Must be two to four double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style.
• Must include a separate title page with the following:
o Title of paper
o Student’s name
o Course name and number
o Instructor’s name
o Date submitted
• Must use at least three scholarly sources in addition to the course text
• Must document all sources in APA style.
• Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style

Information systems support and facilitate the functioning of people to enhance and evolve nursing practice by generating knowledge. This knowledge represents five rights: the right information, accessible by the right people in the right settings, applied the right way at the right time. It is also the struggle to integrate new knowledge and old knowledge to enhance wisdom. If clinicians are inundated with data without the ability to process it, this yields too little wisdom. That is why it is crucial that clinicians have viable information systems at their fingertips to facilitate acquisition, sharing, and utilization of knowledge while maturing wisdom; it is a process of empowerment.

  • If you could meet only four of the five rights, which one would you omit and why?
  • Provide a rationale for each right you chose to meet:
    • Right Information
    • Accessible by the Right People
    • Right Settings
    • Applied the Right Way
    • At the Right Time
