Instructions

For this assignment, you will need to write a literature review of sources related to the topics covered in your assignments regarding the Rogers Engineering and Manufacturing (REM) Case Study Scenarios. Be sure to evaluate your sources to make sure they are appropriate quality (peer-reviewed academic journals) and relevant to the topic. This assignment practices bringing together your research preparation and supporting your research study. Developing these skills is essential in the dissertation phase.

  • Review the articles you have critiqued or cited for your assignments from the past six units as well as new research articles that cover corporate social responsibility.
  • Formulate a review of the literature regarding ethical issues in organizations, using a minimum of six sources. At least one of the articles must cover the topic of this unit, which is corporate social responsibility. While you are reviewing many of the same sources from previous assignments, do not simply copy your critique or verbiage from those assignments. All literature review material for this assignment should be new.
  • Be sure to explain why each source was selected and how it is of value to the topic. Do not use sources over 5 years old.
  • In discussing the literature sources, compare and contrast the findings and any gaps in the research that may lead to additional research.

Your literature review should be a minimum of three pages in length, not counting the title page and references page. All sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations. All references and citations used must be in APA style.

10 pages.

In 1979, China enacted a drastic policy that limited the number of children that families could have, despite the fact that China’s Total Fertility Rate had been declining rapidly for close to a decade. The effects of this policy are still felt today, particularly for those who were born shortly before or after the implementation of this policy. At the beginning of 2016, China relaxed this policy in the wake of outrage over brutal enforcement tactics, skewed gender ratios, and an increasingly growing elderly population. But, according to many experts, the damage has already been done.
Below you will find links to three articles, all written in late 2015, each discussing the impact the One Child Policy had on the culture and economy of the country. While the topic is the same, each emphasizes a different aspect of the policy.

New York Times: China Will Feel One-Child Policy’s Effects for Decades

The New York Times article provides a brief summary of some of the most important impacts on the country.

National Geographic: See How the One-Child Policy Changed China

The National Geographic article provides some context to the history of population growth in China, and has some really groovy interactive graphs to play with.

BBC: Five Numbers that Sum up China’s One-Child Policy

The BBC article expands on a number of population demographics we have focused our attentions on this week.
After reading all three, answer the following questions in your forum:

Is attempting to limit our reproductive rate really the best method of minimizing the impact that human population growth has on our planet, or is there a more sustainable way that won’t have such a drastic ecological and economic impact on the world?

Thoughtful and logical discussion on this question is encouraged! This is is your opportunity to use some of the vocabulary and concepts you have been studying this week!

What do you believe to the best approach to minimizing the impact of human population growth has on our planet?

The subject title of your post should quickly answer this question, and your post should expand on your idea(s).

To receive full credit, you must:
  • Write in complete sentences that are thoughtful, well written, and free of typos.
  • Address all parts of the forum topic.
  • Use vocabulary presented in the learning materials appropriately.
  • Create a discussion and reply to another discussion by 8:00 pm on Saturday of week 2 (7 days after week 2 module becomes available).

student reply #1:
Do I think china should have limited it to one child ? No. Do I believe that they have the right idea? Yes.  You see our population is expanding more and more and without a real way to curb the growth rate we are running out of land, resources, houses, and are destroying our atmosphere even more quickly.  Birth control can be used as a way to limit the population growth- making it free and accessible to all women would make  it so they would have no unwanted pregnancies. Now I am not pro or con abortion policies however, thinking on this topic I believe Abortion should be a legal and open resource for women to choose to use if an unwanted pregnancy occurs for faulty birth control or other reasons; by sending the child off to an orphanage doesn’t reduce the population effectively.  Maybe perhaps the government should say the average american family is limited to 3 children only. Because based on our economy most families struggled to feed two adults and two children without government aid as is.  I don’t think any of these will change much because our population already exceeds our capacity.
student reply#2:

  1. Is attempting to limit our reproductive rate really the best method of minimizing the impact that human population growth has on our planet, or is there a more sustainable way that won’t have such a drastic ecological and economic impact on the world?

I believe China’s one child policy was not the correct way to approach the increasing population. We have learned from this class that once a population increases it will eventually stabilize once it reaches the carry capacity of the area which these families live. People will limit the number of their children voluntarily if resources are not available for their children to grow up and have a great opportunity to survive and flourish. The one child policy will make it hard in the future to take care of the elderly population and increasing government spending to take care of them. It also encourages a small number to families killing their daughters (infanticide) to try and get a male child.

2.   What do you believe to the best approach to minimizing the impact of human population growth has on our planet?

I believe education is the key to helping the world not over populate. Each countries government has a responsibility to help the population understand the effects of overpopulation has on the environment, education and society as a whole. Family planning and sex education are important steps that could be taken and can be done in local areas as well as regionally.

Please only answer Part 2 of this question which is circled in red on question,  in file attached below.

Develop a 6–8 page, APA-formatted article on a global health topic for publication. Describe the factors that impact health and health care delivery, and the interventions that have been implemented. Explain the influence of altruism on global health, and identify evidence-based interventions to address the global health topic.

Preparation

Suppose you have been asked to submit an article for publication in your organization’s newsletter, about a global health topic and how policies and practices at the local level can affect global health. Choose one global health topic from the list (or use another of your choice):

  • Mental health.
  • Communicable diseases (HIV/AIDS, influenza, malaria, tuberculosis).
  • Non-communicable diseases (cancer, lung, and heart disease).
  • Maternal and child health (prenatal care, midwife education, childhood vaccinations).
  • LGBT health.
  • Disabilities.
  • Global water supply and safety (GlobalHealth.gov, n.d.).

Look on the Internet for very recent peer-reviewed articles, statistics, and professional nursing information on the global health topic you selected.

Requirements

For this assessment, develop an APA-formatted research review article that covers one global health topic of your choice. In this assessment:

  • Identify your topic. Provide background information and statistics on the topic, including the global areas most affected by the topic and the types of health care issues most often associated with the topic.
  • Describe the factors that impact health and health care delivery in the global areas most affected by the topic you selected. These factors may include not only culture and tradition, but also politics, economics, and social attitude.
  • Explain the influence of altruistic organizations (Peace Corps, Project Hope, religious and non-religious missions, and so on) on health and health care practices in the global area specifically associated with the topic.
  • Describe the interventions implemented to address the health care issues associated with the topic. Include both conventional and unconventional interventions.
  • Explain how the health care decisions and practices at the local level (the area most impacted by the topic) relate to health and health care delivery in other global areas. This is not limited only to best practices, but could include poor health care decisions and practices.
  • Identify evidence-based interventions that are effective, efficient, cost-effective, and equitable for promoting wellness and disease prevention in the specific area and population.

Additional Requirements

Complete your assessment using the following specifications:

  • Title page and reference page.
  • Number of pages: 6–8 (not  including the title and reference pages).
  • At least 3 current scholarly or professional resources.
  • APA format for citations and references.
  • Times New Roman font, 12-point, double-spaced.

While the focus of this course is nursing theory, frequently the use of non-nursing or borrowed theories occurs. Select a nursing practice area (i.e. education, executive, advance clinical practice, informatics, and health care policy); then identify a non-nursing (borrowed) theory; and apply it to the area you have selected. Be sure to provide an example of how the non-nursing theory can be used to enhance the selected practice area. Don’t forget to include scholarly reference(s) to support your information.

Janine was hospitalized with severe abdominal pain and placed in an intensive care unit. Her doctor told the hospital personnel to order around-the-clock nursing care for Janine. At the hospital’s request, a nursing services firm, Nursing Services Unlimited, provided two weeks of in-hospital care and, after Janine was sent home, an additional two weeks of at-home care. During the at-home period of care, Janine was fully aware that she was receiving the benefit of the nursing services. Nursing Services later billed Janine $4,000 for the nursing care, but Janine refused to pay claiming she had never contracted for the services, either orally or in writing. Since no express contract was ever formed can Nursing Services recover the $4,000 from Janine? If so, under what legal theory?

DISCUSSION
No plagiarism please.
Will need minimum of 300 words, APA Style, double spaced, times new roman, font 12, and Include: (3 references within years 2015-2018) with intext citations.

Chronic pelvic pain can be defined as intermittent or constant pain in the lower abdomen or pelvis of a woman of at least 6 months in duration, not occurring exclusively with menstruation or intercourse and not associated with pregnancy. It is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Chronic pelvic pain presents in primary care as frequently as migraine or low-back pain and may significantly impact a woman’s ability to function.
Discussion:
Discuss the common causes of pelvic pain and who, when, and why you would decide to refer the patient for diagnostics and second opinions.
Physical Activity Resource Brochure
After reading the websites cited in the Overview and your peer’s Discussion posts develop a one-page Physical Activity Resource Brochure/infographic. Imagine that your peers all live in the same general location. Research one fun and unusual but accessible activity that will meet the physical activity goals of you and your peers.
Remember to search for activities on Living Social, Groupon, Department of Recreation and Parks brochures, club and meetings sections of the newspaper, bulletin boards in your favorite neighborhood coffee shop or grocery store, etc. Develop a one-page infographic as the brochure which offers information on:

  • a description of the activity
  • cost
  • when and where
  • website or copy of the listing location

The activity should be described as above noted with the addition of photos or graphics to enhance the brochure. Pictures and graphics are required.
You may submit your brochure/infographic in PowerPoint, PDF, Word or Microsoft Publisher format. View websites on how to create an 8 X 11.5 color infographic (one-page Word or pdf. document), but do not purchase formatting options.

Assignment Expectations:
Length: One-page
Structure: One-page colored infographic/brochure

Question Description

Assignment 1: SWOT Analysis

The SWOT analysis is a major component of the strategic planning process. It provides leadership with an evaluation of organizational performance in relation to competitors and external forces. This evaluation helps leaders capitalize on organizational strengths and improve its weaknesses in order to differentiate itself from competitors. For this Assignment, you conduct a SWOT analysis for a health care organization.

To prepare:

  • Review the Jasper Gardens Nursing Home case study in this week’s Learning Resources.
  • Analyze strengths of the organization. Consider the following questions:
    • What does this organization do particularly well? Does it have a specific and recognized niche?
    • What resources does the organization have that might set it apart from its competition or position it for future growth?
    • What does the market perceive as strengths of the organization?
    • What financial considerations are relevant to its strengths?
  • Analyze weaknesses of the organization. Consider the following questions:
    • What needs improvement within the organization?
    • What resource deficits might impact this organization?
    • What does the market perceive as weaknesses of the organization?
    • What financial considerations are relevant to weaknesses?
  • Analyze opportunities of the organization. Consider the following questions:
    • With strengths and weaknesses in mind, what opportunities are available to this organization?
    • Are there current trends that might translate into opportunities?
  • Analyze threats to the organization. Consider the following questions:
    • What competitive threats exist for the organization?
    • Do insufficient or outdated resources hamper the organization?
    • Are there any current trends that might translate into threats?
    • Do any market, regulatory, and/or legal issues present threats?

Note: Your Assignment should show effective application of triangulation of content and resources in your conclusion and recommendations.

The Assignment

Using the SWOT Analysis Template provided in this week’s Learning Resources, complete a 1-page SWOT analysis matrix. The matrix should include a bulleted list of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for Jasper Gardens Nursing Home. Synthesize the information you have gathered from your analysis so that each bullet point clearly represents the most significant considerations within each category. While this is a 1-page document that might appear to be simple, each point must be the result of deep and critical thinking.

Note: Your Assignment must be written in standard edited English. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources. Be sure to follow APA guidelines for your citations, title page, and reference page. Your matrix, however, does not need to follow APA formatting. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct. See the Week 3 Assignment Rubric for additional requirements related to research and scholarly writing.

Discussion: Operating and Financial Performance Indicators

Health care leaders depend on sound operating and financial performance indicators to make decisions regarding working capital management, capital budgeting, and resource allocation. These indicators help organizations maximize performance and strategically plan for new initiatives. For this Discussion, you select a health care organization and examine how its leaders and managers use operating and financial performance indicators in their decision making.

To prepare:

  • Select a health care organization and locate its operating (i.e., utilization rate) and financial data. You may want to use a not-for-profit health care system, as they usually post their annual reports online.
  • Identify one operating indicator (e.g., length of stay, admission, etc.) and two financial performance indicators (e.g., cash and cash equivalents, accounts receivable, accounts payable, short-term loans, etc.).
