GCU NUR699 Week 2 Evidence-Based Practice Proposal – Section B: Problem Description
Details:
Write a paper of 500-750 words (not including the title page and reference page) on your proposed problem description for your EBP project. The paper should address the following:
Describe the background of the problem. Tell the story of the issue and why it deserves attention.
Identify the stakeholders/change agents. Who, or what organizations, are concerned, may benefit from, or are affected by this proposal. List the interested parties, patients, students, agencies, Joint Commission, etc.
Use the feedback from the Topic 2 main forum post and refine your PICOT question. Make sure that the question fits with your graduate degree specialization. NUR 699 Evidence – Based Practice Project
State the purpose and project objectives in specific, realistic, and measurable terms. The objective should address what is to be gained. This is a restatement of the question, providing focus. Measurements need to be taken before and after the evidence-based practice is introduced to identify the expected changes.
5) Provide supportive rationale that the problem or issue is an important one for nursing to resolve using relevant professional literature sources.
Develop an initial reference list to assure that there is adequate literature to support your evidence-based practice project. Follow the “Steps to an Efficient Search to Answer a Clinical Question” box in chapter 3 of the textbook. Use “NUR-699 Search Method Example” to assist you.
7) The majority of references should be research articles. However, national sources such as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS), or the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and others may be used when you are gathering statistics to provide the rationale for the problem.
Once you get into the literature, you may find there is very little research to support your topic and you will have to start all over again. Remember, in order for this to be an evidence-based project, you must have enough evidence to introduce this as a practice change. If you find that you do not have enough supporting evidence to change a practice, then further research would need to be conducted. NUR 699 Evidence – Based Practice Project

GCU NUR699 Week 7 Benchmark – Evidence-Based Practice Proposal Final Paper
Details:
Throughout this course you will be developing a formal, evidence-based practice proposal.
The proposal is the plan for an evidence-based practice project designed to address a problem, issue, or concern in the professional work setting. Although several types of evidence can be used to support a proposed solution, a sufficient and compelling base of support from valid research studies is required as the major component of that evidence. Proposals are submitted in a format suitable for obtaining formal approval in the work setting. Proposals will vary in length depending upon the problem or issue addressed; they can be between 3,500 and 5,000 words. The cover sheet, abstract, references page, and appendices are not included in the word limit.
Section headings and letters for each section component are required. Responses are addressed in narrative form in relation to that number. Evaluation of the proposal in all sections is based upon the extent to which the depth of content reflects graduate-level critical-thinking skills. NUR 699 Evidence – Based Practice Project.
This project contains seven formal sections:
- 1. Section A: Organizational Culture and Readiness Assessment
- 2. Section B: Problem Description
- 3. Section C: Literature Support
- 4. Section D: Solution Description
- 5. Section E: Change Model
- 6. Section F: Implementation Plan
- 7. Section G: Evaluation of Process
Each section (A-G) will be submitted as separate assignments so your instructor can provide feedback (refer to applicable modules for further descriptions of each section).
The final paper will consist of the completed project (with revisions to all sections), title page, abstract, reference list, and appendices. Appendices will include a conceptual model for the project, handouts, data and evaluation collection tools, a budget, a timeline, resource lists, and approval forms.

Each section (A-G) will be submitted as separate assignments so your instructor can provide feedback (refer to applicable modules for further descriptions of each section).
The final paper will consist of the completed project (with revisions to all sections), title page, abstract, reference list, and appendices. Appendices will include a conceptual model for the project, handouts, data and evaluation collection tools, a budget, a timeline, resource lists, and approval forms.
Use the “NUR-699 EBP Implementation Plan Guide” and “NUR-699 Evidence-Based Practice Project Student Example” to assist you. Also refer to “NUR-699 Evidence-Based Practice Project Proposal Format.”

UncategorizedThroughout my nursing career I have had multiple coworkers go back to school to complete the BSN. I’ve witnessed them move on to advance to higher positions in our organization, teaching, and just having the option to move unilaterally if they so wished. I secretly wanted to go back to school but never verbalized it to anyone. Honestly, I believe my fears have prevented me from taking the necessary steps to complete the BSN. I recently got up the courage to talk to my husband and daughter about wanting to go back to school. I admitted to them, and most importantly, to myself, that the fear of learning the technology, writing papers, and doing something that is going to take hard work, was preventing me from fulfulling a dream. I have received nothing but support and encouragement. So here I am. Taking the first steps to accomplish my goal of graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. I have several concerns as I embark on this journey. Mainly, it is wondering if I am going to be able to balance working full time night shift with school. I’ve not written papers in years. The thought of reintegrating myself into the writing mode and learning the technology facets that are now used is a daunting thought. As I start to read the posts by all of you I am realizing I am not alone. I am willing and frankly determined to accomplish this goal. After reading the course materials, I am definately realizing I will have to manage my time. I will organize my day to specifically set aside time to study and be realistic about it. The one strategy in particular that has hit a chord with me and that I will have to work on most, is asking for help. I have to acknowledge to myself that if I need help it is okay to ask for it. It doesn’t mean I am a failure. Also, I will work on enjoying this journey.

Write a paragraph on allele frequency and a paragraph on gene pool.
comment on Katelynn post 50 word count
One major change in our environment, as compared to most of human history, is our access to food! I think of how easy it is for me to run to the grocery store and pick up food shipped here from all over the world. It has not always been such a simple and common thing to enjoy the produce of other continents. Our “food environment” has, in a way, expanded beyond our immediate geographic location, and so our access to more varied nutrient sources is heightened. We also have abundant access to junk food! So, there is great opportunity for the emergence of both wonderfully healthy populations and woefully disease-ridden populations.

Journal Entry:
Reflect on a patient who presented with a hematologic or metabolic disorder during your Practicum experience. Describe your experience in assessing and managing the patient and his or her family. Include details of your “aha” moment in identifying the patient’s disorder. Then, explain how the experience connected your classroom studies to the real-world clinical setting. If you did not have an opportunity to evaluate a patient with this background during the last 8 weeks, you may select a related case study from a reputable source or reflect on previous clinical experiences.
INTEGRATE CLINICAL JUDGMENT IN PROFESSIONAL DECISION-MAKING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NURSING PROCESS THROUGH ANALYSIS OF COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING PRACTICE
Nursing HomeworksINTEGRATE CLINICAL JUDGMENT IN PROFESSIONAL DECISION-MAKING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NURSING PROCESS THROUGH ANALYSIS OF COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING PRACTICE
Milestone 3: Intervention and Evaluation
Purpose
The purpose of this PowerPoint presentation is to provide an opportunity to develop a community health nursing intervention and evaluation tool for your identified community health problem (described in Milestone 2: Assessment and Diagnosis) and identify the components of the nursing process as it applies to a community or population.
Course Outcome
This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcomes.
CO #2. Integrate clinical judgment in professional decision-making and implementation of the nursing process through analysis of community health nursing practice. (PO #4)
CO #6. Recognize effective nursing skills and collaborative techniques used with consumers and other healthcare providers within all levels of healthcare. (PO #2)
CO #8. Incorporate evidence-based practice in the planning of professional nursing care to individuals, families, aggregates, and communities. (PO #8)
Due Date
Scenario
You are a Community/Public Health Nurse (C/PHN) working in your setting of choice. You have identified a community health problem and have analyzed the data collected from your windshield survey and assessment & diagnosis assignments (the first two milestones). You have decided on one nursing intervention and need your organization’s approval for funding of this intervention. Your leadership team has agreed to listen to your proposal.
Directions
Choose a community health nurse setting. Some examples of settings are school nurse, parish nurse, home health nurse, nurse working in the health department (be specific to what area in the health department, e.g., WIC, STD clinic, health promotion, maternal-child health, etc.)
Introduction: Introduce the identified problem, the purpose of the presentation, and reiterate at least one or two important findings that demonstrate this problem in your community (average of 1–2 slides)
Proposed Intervention: Propose one community health nursing intervention that would address one or more of the major direct or indirect factors that contribute to the problem. Keep in mind the Public Health Intervention Wheel (Nies & McEwen, p. 14, figure 1-3) as your framework (average of 3-4 slides). Your intervention needs to be specific:
Who is your target population?
Where is this intervention taking place?
Will it take place one time or multiple times?
How will you reach out to your target population?
How will you get your target population involved?
What is the CH Nurses role in this intervention?
Will you collaborate with anyone (e.g., physician’s office, church, local resources, etc.?)
Is anyone else involved besides yourself (C/PHN)?
If yes, are they paid or volunteers?
What level(s) of prevention is your intervention addressing (primary, secondary and/or tertiary prevention)?
Intervention Justification: Justify why the problem and your nursing interventions should be a priority.
Based on what you have found in the literature, discuss why these interventions are expected to be effective. Include summarized information from at least two professional scholarly sources related to your interventions (average of 2-3 slides).
Proposed Evaluation: Your presentation must include at least one proposed quantitative or qualitative evaluation method that you would use to determine whether your intervention is effective. It should include the method you would use along with desired outcomes. Outcome measurement is a crucial piece when implementing interventions. There is a helpful tool in Doc Sharing to assist you with understanding qualitative and quantitative methods of evaluation. (average of 2-3 slides)
Include discussion about the long-term and short-term impact on your community if the intervention is successful. Keep in mind your desired outcomes when analyzing the evaluation.
Summary: The summary should reiterate the main points of the presentation and conclude with what you are asking to be accomplished, e.g., “Based on ABC, it is imperative our community has XYZ. Thank you for your consideration.”
In addition to the slides described above, your presentation should include a title slide, and reference slide. Remember, you are presenting to your leadership team, so the slides should include the most important elements for them to know in short bullet pointed phrases. You may add additional comments in the notes section to clarify information for your instructor.
Guidelines
Application: Use Microsoft PowerPoint 2010.
Length: The PowerPoint slide show is expected to be no more than 20 slides in length (not including the title slide and reference list slide).
Submission: Submit your files via the basket in the Dropbox: “Caring for Populations: Intervention and Evaluation” by 11:59 p.m. Sunday of Week 6.
Save the assignment with your last name in the file title. Example: “Smith Intervention and Evaluation”
Late Submission: See the course policy on late submissions.
Tutorial: If needed, Microsoft Office has many templates and tutorials to help you get started.

Week 11: Special Topics in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
In your practice as a PMHNP, you may see many children and adolescents who are faced with challenges that go beyond the standard DSM-5 diagnoses. Children in foster homes or who have been adopted may have emotional scars from previous abuse or neglect; adolescents experiencing issues with gender dysphoria may be faced with peer and family issues; and children involved in acts of terrorism may face reoccurring fear and mistrust.
This week, you explore psychological issues that may arise in children faced with special circumstances and the assessment and treatment options specific to these special populations. You also take your final exam for the course.

What does it take to be a living organism?
Nursing HomeworksDue 04-22-2018 No plagiarism and 300 words Assignment Details
Characteristics of Living Things
What does it take to be a living organism?
Living things share eight characteristics (listed in Chapter 1 of your textbook on page 19). A living thing grows, undergoes metabolism, responds to its environ‐ ment, reproduces, passes DNA to the next generation, maintains homeostasis, changes over time, and is made up of cells. A nonliving thing may seem to do one or more of these things, but to be classified as living, all eight characteristics must be present. Sometimes, you may see something that seems alive but is not. Water, for example, moves, responds to temperature, dissolves substances, erodes rocks, and so on, but it does not have DNA and is not made up of cells. Other times, you may see a thing and think it cannot be alive, yet it is. Coral looks like a rock, but a coral reef is actually made up of millions of tiny animals.
Focus your discussion on only 1 of the following topics:
Choose a living organism, and explain how it illustrates each of the characteristics of life.
Compare a living thing with a nonliving thing of your choice that has some of the characteristics that define life. For example, a car exhibits metabolism (burning gas and producing heat), a characteristic of life, but is not alive because it cannot reproduce.
Compare and contrast the following pairs based on the 8 characteristics that define life:
A rock and a snail
A lamp and a tree
Discuss some of the characteristics that fire shares with living things (it can grow, it metabolizes, and so on).

The self-help movement
Nursing HomeworksSelf-Help Evaluation
ThIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT ASSIGNMENT
The self-help movement has swept the world of substance abuse treatment. A new client may not be aware of any treatment options open to them aside from those of self-help group meetings, such as Alcoholics Anonymous. While self-help groups are not a solution for every client, they have been shown to be useful in some cases.
As future substance abuse counselors, it is important that you explore and be aware of the different self-help groups and what goes on in these group meetings.
Begin this assignment by doing the following:
Attend a self-help group related to substance abuse. There are multiple options including AA Open Meetings, Al-Anon, Women for Sobriety, and so forth. Information is easily accessible on the Internet. Note that some meetings are closed while others are open. At Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), most weekly groups are closed; however, open meetings are held primarily on weekends when all are welcome to attend.
Information for your area can be obtained through “AA Intergroup” at http://aa-intergroup.org/.
Introduce yourself and let folks know that you are a student. Remember to follow the guidelines of confidentiality.
If you are unable to access a twelve-step group because one is not available in your area, either research an online self-help group or research the implications of self-help groups in general including their strengths and weaknesses.
Write a paper about your experience and make sure you cover the following:
Write a paper in Word format and make sure you include a title page and reference page in addition to the 6–8-pages of content. Apply APA 6th edition standards to the format of the paper, and the citation of sources.
Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A1.doc.
By the due date assigned, deliver your assignment to the Submissions Area.
Review the detailed grading rubric.
