Nursing homework help
Just like on the midterm, the way this final works is that I have provided you 5 questions, one per week’s topic. You need to answer the questions to the best of your ability. I will randomly be selecting 2 questions to grade, and then you will have the choice of which 3rd question you want me to review. After everyone has submitted their final exams (on Wednesday morning 8AM of Finals Week), you will be allowed to go into Moodle and select the question number you want me to grade.
Responses will be graded based on 3 things .
1) How thoroughly and thoughtfully you explained the answer.
2) How feasible and creative your response was in terms of solutions, or options for solving problems. 3) How cleanly written it is. Please no typos and no grammatical mistakes.
You must provide links for all of your sources if you reference anything besides your textbook. You all know what reliable sources are, so make sure anything you are referencing is from a reliable, credible source.
*Hint: Each response should probably be at least ½ a page if you are answering thoroughly. Less than ½ a page means you probably didn’t provide enough detail.
Week 6 question
Do people choose their own health, particularly their own nutrition and physical activity? Whether you think the answer is yes, no, or somewhere in between, make a case for your answer. Build your case referencing at least 4 different factors that influence health from Chapters 13,14, and 16. Be specific and think about psychosocial factors and policies, systems, and environmental factors that are relevant to your response.
Week 7 question
Where does the U.S. rank in terms for infant and maternal mortality? Thinking about these rankings, explain the quote “maternal child health is not a health problem, it is a social problem with health consequences.” What are some of the social and economic factors that influence women and children’s ability to be healthy? What are some things that can be done to improve the health of women and children? What we can learn from tobacco prevention efforts to improve maternal and child health? What specific strategies could we use from tobacco? Or, are there things we could learn from other countries?
Week 8 question
Explain, in your own words, what the 3 levels of prevention are. Pick a specific mental health or injury area and discuss how we could intervene at each of the three levels of prevention to improve health outcomes. How would the strategies need to be different for each of the different levels of prevention? What is at least 1 thing that you think we can do to reduce stigma surrounding mental health or surrounding seeking help for mental health issues?
Week 9 question
In your own words, explain the differences and the relationship between medical care and public health. Why are the two sometimes in conflict with each other? How could we change our current system (either the medical care system or the public health system) to improve health outcomes for everyone in our society (Please provide at least 2 specific examples of changes we could make)? Are there any potential unintended consequences of making these changes?
Week 10 question
Which is the fastest growing age group in U.S. society? What are the potential effects as this big group of people ages? What are some of the challenges we will be facing with the younger generations not being as healthy at an earlier age? Can our focus simply be on trying to help people live longer, or do we also need to be focusing on improving quality of life? What are some specific strategies we can implement to help people age healthily? How can we strengthen public health efforts in the future to support older people and society as a whole?
Extra credit:
Please pick one of the news stories below and answer the following questions about it.
1. How/why is this topic a public health issue?
2. Who is most affected by the issue?
3. What are the larger societal implications of the issue, and what happens if things don’t change?
4. What do you think are some of the upstream prevention strategies that we could be implementing to address this problem?
5. What do you think are some of the policy, systems, or environmental changes that could be made to address the problem?

he Purdue OWL also offers a number of other resources on choosing and developing a topic:

esearch Paper Project – Step 1: Choosing a Topi
For this lesson, you need to choose a topic for your research paper. As discussed in the lesson presentation, choose a specific topic.
Thinking about the broad topics that you’re interested in is a great way to choose a specific topic, as we’ve seen with this example. To brainstorm specific topics, choose one or more of the pre-writing activities discussed in the lesson. For example, if you’re interested in computers, start brainstorming ways that computers are used like in this

Currently I work as the Trauma Coordinator for a Level IV trauma facility, my role as a health care team member is to coordinate patient care, monitor and assure that our facility is following state regulations, head up the quality assurance process, educating the nursing staff and monitoring their certifications are just a few of my responsibilities. 2.  How do you define professionalism and how does professional responsibility influence your work? To me professionalism is made up of several qualities, your appearance, attitude and willingness to work with others are just a few. Being in an administrative role, it is my responsibility to behave in a professional manner all the time. I have to lead by setting a good example for others to follow, I can not expect something of others that I am not willing to do myself. 3.  Do you consider leaders in your organization stewards of health care? Why or why not? Yes, the leaders in at my facility are stewards of health care. Our facility is an extension of a University with magnet status, we are highly encouraged to continue our education and be active members of groups and organizations that play an active role in improving health care at state and national levels. 4.  Is it important to you that leaders exercise professional advocacy and authenticity as well as power and influence when working with colleagues? Why or why not? Yes, authenticity, professional advocacy, power and influence area all qualities that nursing leaders have that make our profession one of the most trusted, if it were not for these qualities, we would not have the trust and respect that nursing has gained through the years. 1.   In 500-750 words, summarize your interview and share your impressions of the leader’s responses. Compare and contrast responses provided by your peer (in Professional Identity and Stewardship – Part I: Peer Interview assignment) with those provided by the leader. Share your impressions of their differences and similarities. Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.   Rubric:

  1.  Comprehensive summary of leader interview is provided with detailed explanations of each component of professional identity and a thoughtful discussion of the interviewer’s perceptions of the interview experience.
  2.  Comparison and contrast of peer responses with those provided by the leader and student’s impression of those differences and similarities demonstrate a clear understanding of roles, professionalism, stewardship, and advocacy as it applies to leadership, while demonstrating higher level thinking as indicated by evidence of reflective thought.
  3. Thesis and/or main claim are comprehensive; contained within the thesis is the essence of the paper. Thesis statement makes the purpose of the paper clear.
  4. There is a sophisticated construction of paragraphs and transitions. Ideas progress and relate to each other. Paragraph and transition construction guide the reader. Paragraph structure is seamless.
  5. Writer is clearly in command of standard, written, academic English.

Literature Evaluation Table
In nursing practice, accurate identification and application of research is essential to achieving successful outcomes. Being able to articulate the information and successfully summarize relevant peer-reviewed articles in a scholarly fashion helps to support the student’s ability and confidence to further develop and synthesize the progressively more complex assignments that constitute the components of the course change proposal capstone project.
For this assignment, the student will provide a synopsis of eight peer-reviewed articles from nursing journals using an evaluation table that determines the level and strength of evidence for each of the eight articles. The articles should be current within the last 5 years and closely relate to the PICOT statement developed earlier in this course. The articles may include quantitative research, descriptive analyses, longitudinal studies, or meta-analysis articles. A systematic review may be used to provide background information for the purpose or problem identified in the proposed capstone project. Use the “Literature Evaluation Table” resource to complete this assignment.(Attached)
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Application: Personal Health Assessment

If you were asked, “How healthy are you?”, how might you answer? Do you exercise? Do you keep a healthy body weight and eat less saturated fat? Your health and wellness is often based on a variety of factors and numbers. For example, body weight, body fat percentage, cholesterol, and depression scales all numerically calculate elements of your health. While these are not the only factors that determine health and wellness, they can illustrate health risks such as contracting a chronic illness like heart disease or diabetes, and can collectively provide you with a comprehensive assessment of your health and wellness. How does learning about your health and wellness influence your health behavior? Do you tend to work out more and eat healthier foods if you have high cholesterol, or do you dismiss the numbers and continue to engage in unhealthy behaviors?   For this assignment, you take the Personal Health Assessment and consider how your personal health and wellness influences your health behavior.   To prepare for this Application Assignment:   Review the article “Health, well-being and wellness: An anthropological eco-systematic approach.” Consider the factors that influence health behavior.   Complete the following assessment in Health: The basics, 10th edition:
    • Chapter 1 Personal Health Assessment “How Healthy Are You?”
    • Pay particular attention to your predisposition to health conditions and behaviors that reinforce or change health behavior.

It should be the area where you live or the area surrounding your work setting but must include a residential area. Demographic data are not needed. I currently reside in the city of Miami in Florida.  Miami has a population of 417,650, and Florida 19,600,311 based on the 2013 census. The average age is 36.2 years.  72.6% of the population is white.  70.0% of the population is Hispanic. (I’m not sure how the total percentage comes out to greater than 100%, unless some of the Hispanics counted themselves as white, or vice versa….) 19.2% of the population is African American. 1.0% of the population is Asian. In addition, 70.9% of people over the age of 25 have a high school diploma and 23.1% of people have a bachelors degree or higher.  32.8% of the population owns their homes; the median house income is $30,375. Retrieve from http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/12/1245000.html
2. Windshield Survey (100 points) a. Vitality:Use a majority of the questions from Box 6-2 in your text to describe your observations about the community vitality. The majority of the people who lives in my neighborhood are Hispanic. The most common ethnicity or race in Miami, Florida is white and Hispanic. The general appearance of the resident’s downtown is healthy and very fit bodies. I also notice residents that are appropriate dress and clean outfits. Here in Miami, Florida people take care very well of their appearance and look. Miami is a city of the entertainment, many places to visits and beautiful beaches, because of that many visitors and tourists come to visit our community.  People of various ages are visible in the mid town, during the day, there are many people of both genders and ages walking while carrying laundry bags or pushing carts with groceries. There is a home for the mental disable and some of the residents can be seen walking outside. I also noticed elderly using walker and wheelchair, others getting out of their private bus for elderly people. During the night, especially during weekends and near the beach, I notice many people under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
b. Indicators of social and economic conditions: Use a majority of the questions from Box 6-2 in your text to describe your observations about the social and economic conditions. In Miami, Florida there are many single and multifamily residences. The condition of these homes and apartments varies with the neighborhood. We also have public houses, especially for single mothers, and homeless people that don’t have where to go or live.   The most common method of transportation is by car, buses, and train. You can also notice young adults riding motorcycles at high speed in highways. In the city of Miami we provide programs for elderly, like free transportation, food stamps, and activities reunions. Miami afford job opportunities; we have factories, small businesses, but no military installations. There are unemployed people such as homeless, especially in Downtown, living in the street under bridges. Even though we offer then public houses, most of them prefer to live in the street.
c. Health Resources: Use a majority of the questions from Box 6-2 in your text to describe your observations about the health resources. In Miami, Florida we have many local hospitals, which the majorities are very big that provides diverse services. We also have Dialysis centers, pharmacies, and surgical supply stores. There are Nursing/Rehab Centers as well as adult day care services. There are Urgent Care, and several medical, dental, and chiropractic offices. We have a Miami-Dade County Health Department, which offer diverse services like STD treatments, homeless or abused shelters, family planning services and more. There are mobile health vehicles and blood donation centers.
d. Environmental conditions related to health: Use a majority of the questions from Box 6-2 in your text to describe your observations about the environmental conditions. The condition of the roads and streets of the city of Miami are very good. With all the drainage systems in place and working well. There are adequate traffic lights, signs and handicapped accessible sidewalks throughout the town. Even thought Miami is a heavily trafficked city, all streets are very well organized with the proper signs. There are many restaurants. Usually, we don’t see people selling food in the streets, neither people eating in public areas. We have public restroom available in everywhere.
e. Social functioning: Use a majority of the questions from Box 6-2 in your text to describe your observations about the social functioning. The generation within the neighborhood ranges from elderly to infants. There are families observed, and families are seen with either a mom or dad being present with their children. Families are caring for the children. Many of the families in the neighborhood remain to their selves and their family, the people working within their yard is not bothering their neighbors. I did not observe anything that would make me suspicious of social problems, neither gang activity, juvenile delinquency or drug or alcohol abuse.
f. Attitude toward healthcare: Use a majority of the questions from Box 6-2 in your text to describe your observations about the attitudes toward healthcare. The public health and Planned Parenthood clinics provide preventive and wellness care to the uninsured people. Frequently, volunteers from local hospitals offer a free annual Community Health Fair which provides education, cholesterol testing, blood pressure, diabetic testing, stroke risk and HIV screening services for Miami residents. There are many botanical and herbal medicine stores. I see advertising promoting a healthy lifestyle, exercise, how to quit smoking, not text and drive, neither drink nor drive.

In this unit, we discussed how 20% of violent criminals receive probation. Do you think that violent criminals should receive probation? Explain your reasoning.
REPLY TO MY CLASSMATE’S RESPONSE TO THE ABOVE QUESTION AND EXPLAIN WHY YOU AGREE? (A MINIMUM OF 200 WORDS EACH POST)
CLASSMATE’S POST
The short answer is no. All crimes are violent ask any victim; all crimes have victims ask any neighbor. It only makes me wonder of the 20% violent criminals receive probation.  Why? A violent criminal is either a murder, rapist, kidnapper, armed robber, assault, terrorist, etc.  All of these people deserve to go to prison where they will be kept away from innocent citizens.
I am perplexed that this is happening because if someone is being minus to society then they should be removed from it long enough to understand such behavior won’t be tolerated. All in all, the crime a person is convicted of does play a major role factor determining the security level of prison they’ll be sent to.  Perhaps this just my opinion that inmates are evaluated regularly once they are in prison and depending on their conduct in prison that security level may be raised or lowered. Also, it is important to understand a person serving time for a violent crime doesn’t guarantee that they are a nonviolent person. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Am I right or wrong here?
My understanding we absolutely must get more serious about violent predatory crimes. If you are a murderer, a rapist, child predator you are clearly a serious danger to the public and no data shows we can assure you won’t do it again.  Let be serious here to me these crimes constitute an individual giving up his right to be part of our society.

CT 6 Healthcare Information
