A NURSING THEORY IS THE ENVIRONMENTAL THEORY FROM FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE.

Purpose: DiscussionThing to Remember:_____________DISCUSSION:One example of a nursing theory is the environmental theory from Florence Nightingale. Even though her intention was not to actually develop a theory her rules for practice ended up becoming one thereby making her model both descriptive and practical (Butts & Rich 2018). Nightingale used 13 facets of nursing care that addressed patient needs although they are not all-inclusive. Florence also briefly touches on giving ones whole attention to a patient and to never rush them through an assessment as Im sure this will not only make the practitioner more likely to miss a crucial piece of the puzzle but will also hurt the trust of the practitioner-patient relationship. Always sit down when a sick person is talking business to you show no signs of hurry and give complete attention (Clatworthy 2010). A practitioner can use Nightingales basic patient rights to healthcare to provide holistic care. Alternately an example of a non-nursing theory is the way of deontology. According to our text it literally means the study of duty (Butts & Rich 2018). I chose this theory because it is all encompassing related to morals but can easily be shifted to use in a nursing setting. As a practitioner it is ones duty to provide the best care for a patient not only addressing their physical needs but all other needs as well emotional mental and spiritual. Immanuel Kants theory is useful in this situation because rational choice is within ones control whereas one has only tenuous control over personal emotions only reason and not emotion is sufficient to lead a person to moral actions (Butts & Rich 2018). Kants ethics sees the ground of morality in pure reason (Yudanin 2015). It is within reason to view a patient as multifaceted therefore the practitioner must fulfill their duty to provide again holistic care. When taking these two theories along with two practitioners who operate on either theory separately and joining them together the aforementioned practitioners can truly address every issue and also engage in preventative care to meaningfully treat a patient.References:Butts J. Chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation are respiratory disorders that affect children and adults. Advanced practice nurses often assist physicians in providing treatment to patients with these disorders. Sometimes, patients require immediate treatment, making it is essential to recognize and distinguish minor asthma symptoms from serious, life-threatening symptoms. Since symptoms and attacks are often induced by a trigger, nurses must also help patients identify their triggers and recommend appropriate management options. Like many other disorders, there are various approaches to treating and managing care for asthmatic patients. Some approaches work better than others, depending on individual patient factors. One method that supports the clinical decision making of drug therapy plans for asthmatic patients is the stepwise approach, which you explore in this Assignment.

To prepare:

  • Review “Asthma” in Chapter 27 of the Huether and McCance text. Identify the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Consider how these disorders are similar and different.
  • Consider drugs used to treat asthmatic patients, including long-term control and quick relief treatment options for patients.
  • Think about the impact these drugs might have on patients, including adults and children.
  • Review Chapter 25 of the Arcangelo text. Reflect on using the stepwise approach to asthma treatment and management. Consider how stepwise management assists health care providers and patients in gaining and maintaining control of the disease.
  • Think about how to educate patients to develop a plan for medication adherence. Consider how the plan might differ based on the patient’s age.
By Day 7

Write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

  • Describe the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Then, explain the changes in the arterial blood-gas patterns during an exacerbation.
  • Describe long-term control and quick-relief drugs used to treat asthma in patients.
  • Explain the impact these drugs might have on adults and children.
  • Explain the stepwise approach to asthma treatment and management and how this approach assists health care providers and patients in gaining and maintaining control of the disease.
  • Explain how you would help patients develop a plan for medication adherence, including how the plan might differ based on the patient’s age.

Reminder: The School of Nursing requires that all papers submitted include a title page, introduction, summary, and references. The Sample Paper provided at the Walden Writing Center provides an example of those required elements (available at http://writingcenter.waldenu.edu/57.htm). All papers submitted must use this formatting.

Purpose

In your professional life and work, you will find the need to research and learn what you can about certain topics so that you can educate others. This is particularly true when there is a problem to be solved, and you have to make recommendation(s) to others. Key executives appreciate a summary called an SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation), where you will describe the situation (problem), provide background information about the situation, state your assessment of the matter and potential solutions, and then recommend which solution(s) you suggest using to resolve the issue. The SBAR is the tool considered to be industry best practice for standardized communication. Thought brevity is a key component for an executive-level SBAR the goal of this assignment is for you communicate your thought process and understanding of the issues an HIT professional should consider when encountered with analyzing a merger/acquisition scenario (something which is becoming more and more common in the healthcare industry).

Instructions

Building upon the input you gave in Week 3 regarding whether the two merging organizations should consolidate their disparate EHR systems, let’s assume that the organization you are merging with has an Electronic Health Record (EHR) that is not certified through the ONC Health IT Certification Program.
Prepare an SBAR (outline the Situation, give some Background, and then give your Assessment and Recommendation) with this new twist. Which EHR would you recommend the two organizations use? Why? Be sure to support your recommendation including why it is important to have certified healthcare technology, or why not. Some other things to consider in your assessment include:

  • What workflows and process can be the most problematic when two organization merge? How might this impact which EHR is used?
  • Which HIT standards and regulations are critical to consider as part of the process?
  • How do you recommend mitigating risks to these issues/risked you identified?

Lastly, make sure to support your arguments/statements with references to credible resources. Use APA citations.

Resources

DOES SPECIFIC EDUCATION GUARANTEE THAT A NURSE IS COMPETENT IN NURSING?

Ethics, Standards, and Implementation
Codes of ethics and standards for professional nursing practice have been developed by some professional nursing organizations. These codes and standards guide us in our practice and our interactions with consumers, other nurses, and other healthcare professions. Select at least one of the ethical standards or one of the standards of practice and tell us how you implement this in your current practice or how you will implement it in your future practice. Which standard is most challenging to you, and why?

Ethical Standards and Implementation
Class,
I agree that Quality of Care (competence) is a very important standard. However, it must be an internal value of the nurse. For example, many states require continuing education to maintain a nursing license. In many states, the nurse must have a specified number of continuing education to renew a license (Hood, 2014). It is an interesting topic which likely has complex answers. Does specific education guarantee that a nurse is competent in nursing? Does this education improve a nurse’s practice and competence?

Task: Students will select a nonprofit organization of their choice, and use available resources (including tax forms) to evaluate existing funding sources. Based on this information, students will develop a list of 3 additional potential funders including their name, what they fund, the range of funds, the grant cycle, and how they are connected to the selected nonprofit. *Note: you can select grants from an organization that has already funded your selected nonprofit, but the specific grant has to be for a different project (can’t be a re-application for a grant that was already awarded to them before).
