Pharmacological And Physiological Antagonism

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read the required chapters from the text and review the required articles for this week. Alcohol and caffeine have nearly opposite effects on behavior and the nervous system, yet these substances are not used to treat overdose or addiction to the other. Why not use caffeine to treat alcohol addiction? Analyze the issues of pharmacological and physiological antagonism. Explain the receptor systems involved and the central nervous system structures effects with regard to this question. Frame your analysis in terms of drug action first and other consequences second.
Guided Response:  Review several of your colleagues’ posts and respond to at least two of your peers by 11:59 p.m. on Day 7 of the week. You are encouraged to post your required replies earlier in the week to promote more meaningful interactive discourse in this discussion.

Thriving organizations see the value of cultivating both management and leadership competencies. For this Discussion, you consider two distinct “buckets” of competencies—management and leadership—and think about how these can be leveraged to successfully introduce a new product or service in an organization.

To prepare:

  • Think about a new product or service in your organization that was recently implemented.
    • Identify five leadership strategies you might use to address the implementation of the new product or service.
    • Think about the management competencies that were needed in order for this project to be successful. Why are these competencies important?
    • Consider the leadership competencies required for success, and reflect on the value of these competencies.

By Day 3

Post a description of the new product or service and how it aligns with organizational goals and professional standards. Describe the distinct management and leadership competencies that facilitated successful implementation of this project. Provide your rationale.

Please reply to the following discussion attached. 250 wordsplease? Thanks so much.

Discussion
Week 1 Project, you selected a particular health issue or health disease (for example, heart disease, cancer, or obesity) to act as a main theme or topic in this course. In each week of this course you completed assignments related to your selected health issue or health disease topic. Your assignments were supported by appropriate available data sources.
In this Project, you will assume the role of a public health educator presenting information about a health issue or health disease (preferably the topic that you have been discussing throughout the course).
Review your previous assignments, analyze your data and its findings, combine your information, and develop a 15–20 page research paper on your selected health issue or health disease that you studied throughout this course.
Using the readings for the week, the South University Online Library, and the Internet for research, select scholarly references to support your assertions. You have selected scholarly references for your previous assignments in this course. By now, you should have at least 7–10 scholarly references in support of your research paper.
Include the following components in your presentation:
Describe your program objectives and goals, the need, target audience, address the health problem, and any intervention strategies.
Introduce your planning strategies, implementation process, and research method. Explain, using scholarly information, why you have selected the research method and design.
Your research paper should include a developed budget plan and summary to justify your budget needs.
Include two public health models, explain the selected models, and conclude with pertinent information to address why these models are aligned with your public health evaluation program and evaluation processes.
Be sure to state major points clearly and support with specific details, examples, or analysis.
Support your statements by using scholarly literature and evidence-based information from at least 7 to 10 authoritative resources.
The CDC Self-Study Guide is an excellent resource tool to guide your work.

For this assignment, you will have the opportunity to develop a scholarly paper about power and sample size determination. Within the content of the paper, you will have the opportunity to examine three different examples of sample size. Please use issues related to public health.
Select two journal articles where a sample size is identified using the CSU Online Library databases for your search. Ensure the articles were published within the past five years.
Be sure to include the following in the content of your paper:

  • In the first section, explain your thoughts concerning what would have happened if the studies had a much smaller or limited number of participants (instead of the number of participants they actually had) to support a valid research study.
  • For the second section, explain your thoughts about what could have happened if the researchers had too many participants (more than they actually had), and this became a strain on finances and resources.
  • In the third section, explain how your selected research articles incorporated key themes from power and sample size determination.
  • In the fourth section, identify why the samples in the studies were estimated to be the right sizes for the population under study.
  • Next, explain how the margin of error, effect size, and variability of the outcome affect sample size computations.
  • Finally, compare and contrast the three sample scenarios you identified above (too many, too few, and the ideal number of participants) for the two articles. How would the results have been similar or different depending on the sample sizes? You may create a chart with columns and rows for this final section.

Your paper must be at least two pages in length, and you must use at least the two selected journal articles as references, but more may be used if needed. Any information from a source must be cited and referenced in APA format, and your paper should be formatted in APA style.

Assignment 2: Using Human Resource Management Practices to Support Organizational Culture

Organizational cultures are intentionally created and carefully maintained by companies. They shape the “feel” and visual artifacts of the organization as well as support the organization’s business strategy. A business strategy can allow a company to leverage the organization’s set of core competencies to create a competitive advantage. Two examples of a business strategy or core competency are superior customer service and innovation. In addition to employing methods that support the overall business strategy of the organization, each internal business unit also creates its own practices that support the strategy. The human resources (HR) management business unit, for example, formulates the HR practices to ensure that the company’s human capital efforts support a culture of innovation.
As an example, an organization whose business strategy or core competency is innovation might foster the overall culture of innovation by instituting a work-when-you-want policy and creating nontraditional workspaces. In addition, the HR business unit might design practices to enhance the culture of innovation, such as hiring only from universities known for encouraging innovation, implementing a bonus program for employees who acquire a patent, or using an employee selection test to screen for the most innovative among the group. However, if the strategy or core competency of the organization were superior customer service, the overall policies and business unit practices would differ greatly. A distinctly different culture would be created, one that supports the customer service business strategy.
For this assignment, select an organization you know well or research an organization that interests you. Respond to the following:

  • Describe the business strategy of the organization (be sure to include sufficient detail to provide the reader with a clear understanding of the strategy).
  • Analyze three unique, noteworthy aspects of the organization’s culture and explain how they support the overall organizational business strategy or core competencies:
    • If the culture does not currently support the strategy, offer suggestions for changes.
  • Identify and analyze three distinct HR practices that support the organization’s business strategy or core competencies:
    • If the HR practices do not currently support the strategy, offer suggestions for changes.

Support your statements with scholarly references. Be sure to include a separate title page as well as a reference page.
Your final product should be a 3- to 4-page Microsoft Word document, using a minimum of 3 sources from professional literature. Professional literature may include the Argosy University online library resources, relevant textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (.edu, .org, and .gov). Be sure you write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources.
