Foundation Nursing Critique paper

Nursing critique paper

For this project, you will select and critique a nursing theory of your choice.  You will:

  1. Write an original paper.
  2. Submit it to the dropbox for a grade based on the rubric.

The following are some conceptual models and theories you may choose from; however, you may choose any nurse theorist:

  • Florence Nightengale’s Environmental Model
  • Catherine Kolcaba’s Comfort Theory
  • Dorothy Johnson’s Behavioral System Model
  • Hildegard Peplau’s Interpersonal Process Theory
  • Dorothea Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Theory
  • Ida Jean Orlando’s Nursing Process
  • Sister Calista Roy’s Adaptation Model
  • Madeleine Leininger’s Theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality
  • Jean Watson’s Nursing as Caring Theory
  • Margaret Newman’s Health Expanding Consciousness
  • Martha Roger’s Science of Unitary of Human Being
  • Abdellah’s Patient-Centered Approaches Theory

Steps to follow to do your critique:

  • You can visit the Fitne website to watch videos about the above mentioned theorist.
  • You can use the Internet to find a journal or articles that provides an analysis and critique of a theory of nursing as a resource to start working with your own critique.
  • You need to login entering the following information:
    • Username: medical center campus
    • Password: medical
    • Under the Nurse Theorists: Portraits of Excellence (Volume I) link select the theorist of your choice
    • On the left navigation area select a topic to view
  • You must use the criteria for analysis and critique of theories in Chapter 1 of the George text book.
  • You will select the link “Library Resources” found under the “NUR3846 – Library” tab (located on left-side of screen) to do your research and complete your literature review of the model/theory you selected.
  • You may physically visit the library in person as well, and ask for help from the library staff.

Your critique must have the following headings and follow APA Guidelines.

BLUMBERG’S NURSING HOME (BNH) IS A 100-BED MEDICARE AND MEDICAID CERTIFIED FACILITY

Blumberg’s Nursing Home (BNH) is a 100-bed Medicare and Medicaid
certified facility in suburban Philadelphia, PA. The administrator
recently terminated the facility’s Director of Nursing (DON),
receptionist, and dietary aid for inappropriate conduct. They had
all been involved in purchasing and using illegal substances on
facility grounds. Facility staff, as well as many of the more lucid
residents, have found out about the incident. The charge nurse has
been appointed interim DON. The human resource manager has sent a
memo to all staff informing them of a mandatory staff meeting to
discuss BNH’s code of ethics and to provide additional training on
workplace culture. Because federal law requires that there be at
least one (1) registered nurse on duty for a minimum of eight (8)
hours a day, seven (7) days a week, and that the DON must be a
registered nurse (RN) – which the interim DON is not – BNH is out
of compliance.
Considering the reason behind the termination of the
employees, formulate a human resources policy that addresses
inappropriate conduct in the workplace, the process of reporting
inappropriate conduct, and the consequences of violating the
policy. Explain your rationale.

FLORENCE NIGHTINGALES ENVIRONMENTAL MODEL OF NURSING.

Purpose: Comment the DiscussionThing to Remember: Answer this discussion with opinions/ideas creatively and clearly. Supports post using several outside peer-reviewed sources. 1 References find resources that are 5 years or less No errors with APA format 6 EditionDiscussion:I really enjoyed reading about Florence Nightingales environmental model of nursing. I feel like this model speaks to my advanced practice nursing because it deals with observing the patient and asking many questions to understand the full picture (Butts & Rich 2018 p.427). This model puts the patient’s needs and their environment first.Florence Nightingales theory emphasizes environmental factors that could affect the patient. The Nightingale model involves nurses manipulating environmental factors that affect the patient’s health status including noise light cleanliness bedding and ventilation (Butts et.al 2018 p.427-428). Observation is the primary method of data collection and evaluation of outcomes (Butts et.al 2018 p.428).I feel that working at the hospital while studying for APN has really opened my eyes to observe how other APN’s treat their patients. Many times the APN’s can be just as rushed as the doctors are. However some take their time to really get to know and assess the patient in detail. I want to be the kind of APN who takes their time and really makes the patient feel comfortable in assessments and questioning. By making the patient feel comfortable in the environment they’re in can cause the APN to observe the patient in a more natural state. Nightingales model places an emphasis on relationships not regarded as revolutionary or complex (Butts et.al 2018 p. 430). Three major relationships specified- environment to patient nurse to environment and nurse to patient (Butts et.al 2018 p. 430).In conclusion I would like to build a relationship with my patient’s and help them feel comfortable in a not so comfortable environment. I would like to be the kind of APN that practices Florence Nightingales theory of always putting the patient’s needs first. I realize that every situation is different but I will strive for these goals as an APN.References:Butts J. B. & Rich K. L. (2018).Philosophies and theories for advanced nursing practice. Congress and the Legislative Process
Our intent will not be to create gridlock. Oh, except maybe from time to time.” – Bob Dole
As per Article I, Section 2 and Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, the United States Congress is divided into two parts (bicameral): the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Whereas the U.S. Senate is comprised of two senators per state, the House of Representatives divides 435 representatives among each state, according to U.S. Census data. As per Article I, Section 2, each state has at least one congressional representative. That said, many populous states have over twenty congressional representatives. California, the most populous state in the nation, has over fifty congressional representatives.
Congressional representatives serve a two-year term. As per Article 1, Section 5, a representative proposes bills, amendments, and resolutions, and serves on a myriad of congressional committees. Yet, in contrast to a U.S. senator, congressional representatives serve a distinct, geographical area – his or her congressional district. Thus, they are charged with representing the political will of the citizens in their district.
Each member of Congress maintains an official website. You can either access house.gov or senate.gov to look up your Congressional representative or both Senators; or you can look up members of Congress via Congress.gov. Each member of Congress includes within their official website information about the member of Congress, information about the district and/or state, legislative issues, and information regarding constituent services.
Additional information about members of Congress (not actually written by said members of Congress) can be obtained from the following resources:

Directions: Using the required, academic readings, and supplemental academic research, please address the following while adhering to the Discussion Board Rubric:

  • Identify the constitutional powers of Congress.
  • Select your House of Representative or one of your two Senators.
    • Your member of Congress serves on various committees and/or subcommittees in Congress. Identify and describe those committees and/or subcommittees.
    • What political, social, and economic issues are important to your member of Congress?
  • Write a letter to your selected member of Congress. Please include the following:
    • An analysis of how this member of Congress aligns with you regarding at least two political issues.
      • Support your analysis with specific legislation that your member of Congress either wrote (sponsored) or voted for or against.

I have a Public Health Program  FINAL PROJ.Proposal (15 pages) On High Blood Pressure (HTN) to fill in. The outlines are already created ( TOPIC is HTN, Objectives are determined, Community is chosen). I need someone with Health care experience what has done previous Assignments on HTN and it an exert on how to address the problem on different levels: INTRApersonal, INTERpersonal, COMMUNITY level, SOCIETY levels.

1)TOPIC:  High blood pressure (hypertension)

2)OBJECTIVES: My health promotion program proposal will focus on optimization of hypertension management in rural communities; 50% reduction in cases of HTN in West Virginia rural community

3)This project focuses on PROGRAM PLANNING MODELS: planning model I   have selected for my proposal is the Intervention Mapping Model.

My Health promotion program proposal will focus on optimization of delivery of rural health care through development of an INTERVENTION PROGRAM that increase hypertension awareness and self-management by using community volunteers as health coaches. YOU will fill in with more details in here.

THE INTERVENTION STRATEGIES are to be filled in, I have already chose a Behavioral theory to be applied.

I have uploaded a FINAL PROJ.EXAMPLE in an adobe, from a collegue, for you to use it as INSPIRATION, please do not COPY PASTE anything from that!

Validity in research refers to the extent researchers can be confident that the cause and effect they identify in their research are in fact causal relationships. If there is low validity in a study, it usually means that the research design is flawed and the results will be of little or no value. Four different aspects of validity should be considered when reviewing a research design: statistical conclusion validity, internal validity, construct validity, and external validity. In this Discussion, you consider the importance of each of these aspects in judging the validity of quantitative research.
To prepare:
· Review the information in Chapter 10 of the course text on rigor and validity.
· Read the method section of one of the following quasi-experimental studies (also located in this week’s Learning Resources). Identify at least one potential concern that could be raised about the study’s internal validity.
o Metheny, N. A., Davis-Jackson, J., & Stewart, B. J. (2010). Effectiveness of an aspiration risk-reduction protocol. Nursing Research, 59(1), 18–25.
o Padula, C. A., Hughes, C., & Baumhover, L. (2009). Impact of a nurse-driven mobility protocol on functional decline in hospitalized older adults. Journal of Nursing Care Quality, 24(4), 325–331.
o Yuan, S., Chou, M., Hwu, L., Chang, Y., Hsu, W., & Kuo, H. (2009). An intervention program to promote health-related physical fitness in nurses. Journal of Clinical Nursing, 18(10), 1,404–1,411.
· Consider strategies that could be used to strengthen the study’s internal validity and how this would impact the three other types of validity.
· Think about the consequences of an advanced practice nurse neglecting to consider the validity of a research study when reviewing the research for potential use in developing an evidence-based practice.
Post the title of the study that you selected and your analysis of the potential concerns that could be raised about the study’s internal validity. Propose recommendations to strengthen the internal validity and assess the effect your changes could have with regard to the other three types of validity. Discuss the dangers of failing to consider the validity of a research study.

The needs of the pediatric patient differ depending on age, as do the stages of development and the expected assessment findings for each stage. In a 500-750-word paper, examine the needs of a school-aged child between the ages of 5 and 12 years old and discuss the following:

  1. Compare the physical assessments among school-aged children. Describe how you would modify assessment techniques to match the age and developmental stage of the child.
  2. Choose a child between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. Identify the age of the child and describe the typical developmental stages of children that age.
  3. Applying developmental theory based on Erickson, Piaget, or Kohlberg, explain how you would developmentally assess the child. Include how you would offer explanations during the assessment, strategies you would use to gain cooperation, and potential findings from the assessment.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion
