Using Health Information Technology As A Source Of Evidence-Based Practice
Nursing HomeworksUsing Health Information Technology As A Source Of Evidence-Based Practice
FYI: Read the following scenario from the text (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2018 p. 506):Consider how the resources identified in the scenario above could influence an organization’s practice. •Twelve-hour shifts are problematic for patient and nurse safety, and yet hospitals continue to keep the 12-hour shift schedule. In 2004, the Institute of Medicine (Board on Health Care Services & Institute of Medicine, 2004) published a report that referred to studies as early as 1988 that discussed the negative effects of rotating shifts on intervention accuracy. Workers with 12-hour shifts realized more fatigue than workers on 8-hour shifts. In another study done in Turkey by Ilhan, Durukan, Aras, Turkcuoglu, and Aygun (2006), factors relating to increased risk for injury were age of 24 or less, less than 4 years of nursing experience, working in the surgical intensive care units, and working for more than 8 hours. • •Select an issue in your practice that is of concern to you. Using health information technology, locate at least three evidence-based practice resources that address your concern and that could possibly inform further action.

By the end of this lab you will be able to:
Introduction
Your task in this lab is to explore the process of scientific inquiry by investigating the reason and timing of cricket chirps using an online tutorial that was developed by Glendale Community College in Glendale, AZ that will allow you to review steps of the Scientific Method and design your own experiment. To begin, open this interactive website on the Scientific Method:
http://webapp.gccaz.edu/academic/biology/scientific_method/
Tutorial Analysis Questions
Click on the “Tutorial” button at the bottom of the screen to begin. Following the instructions provided in the introduction, complete the entire tutorial and then answer the questions below. It is highly recommended that if you do not answer the questions in the tutorial correctly, repeat the exercises until you get it correct.
Please Note:
There is a glitch in the tutorial. When you get to the flower logic problem, do not select the box labeled “White White” as your first selection. The solution the tutorial gives you when you select this box is incomplete.
Cricket Experiment Setup
In this activity, you will be given 5 potential experiments to run to test the reason that crickets chirp. Your task is to test all 5 of the experimental conditions to test, collect your data, and draw conclusions based on your experimental results. To be most efficient with your time, answer the questions below as you go.
Air Temperature: _______________ C
Atmospheric Pressure: __________________ mm
Number of crickets nearby:_______________
Wind Speed:_______________ m/sec
Cricket Chirps:_______________ per minute
Data Collection
Perform the experiments, testing every hypothesis made available to you. Collect at least 5 data points for each hypothesis. Record your data in the tables below. Regardless of which hypothesis you believe to be the most likely, you must still collect at least 5 data points for all 5 hypotheses.

the solution-focused model and solution-focused questions
Nursing HomeworksIn this Discussion, you apply the solution-focused model and solution-focused questions. You provide other solution-focused questions, similar to the miracle question that was provided for you. Although the textbook provides actual examples of solution-focused questions, always think about your client—you may have to modify the question a bit to take into account the client’s age, cognitive and developmental stage, culture, etc., so that the question makes sense to the client.
To prepare:Recall a case from your fieldwork experience to use for this Discussion.Review and focus on pages 520–521 in your textbook.
In 1 to 2 sentences, briefly identify and describe the problem as perceived by the client, family, or group that you dealt with in your past fieldwork experience. From the list of solution-focused questions on page 520 (e.g., exception questions, coping questions, scaling questions, and relationship questions), identify two different types of questions, and ask each question as if you were actually asking the questions to the client. (Remember, do not use the miracle question.) Remember that the goal of these questions is to assist clients in identifying a solutionExplain how asking these two questions would help the client in coming up with the solution. In 1 to 2 sentences, reflect and explain how asking these questions made you feel and perhaps how the client might feel. No more then 500 words
