The first step of the evidence‐based practice process is to evaluate a nursing practice environment to identify a nursing problem in the clinical area. When a nursing problem is discovered, the nurse researcher develops a clinical guiding question to address that nursing practice problem.

For this assignment, you will create a clinical guiding question know as a PICOT question. The PICOT question must be relevant to a nursing practice problem. To support your PICOT question, identify six supporting peer‐revised research articles, as indicated below. The PICOT question and six peer‐reviewed research articles you choose will be utilized for subsequent assignments.

Use the “Literature Evaluation Table” to complete this assignment.

  1. Select a nursing practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research (use hypertension as a topic/problem). Start with the patient population and identify a clinical problem or issue that arises from the patient population. In 200–250 words, provide a summary of the clinical issue.
  2. Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT question in your selected nursing practice problem area of interest. The PICOT question should be applicable to your proposed capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN‐BSN program of study).
  3. The PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project.
  4. Conduct a literature search to locate six research articles focused on your selected nursing practice problem of interest. This literature search should include three quantitative and three qualitative peer‐reviewed research articles to support your nursing practice problem.

Disorders and Treatment

Each disorder or injury on the topic list in Week 1 Assignment 3 involves some process of brain damage or chemical alteration. When a person is diagnosed with such a disorder, the focus is to find an effective treatment. The ideal treatment for a disorder or injury would involve a medicine that would stop or reverse the process that is causing damage or reset the chemical imbalance. In some cases, that is possible, such as when a person who has epilepsy is given a drug that stops the seizures. In other cases, such as with Alzheimer’s disease, the drug treatment involves symptom management because there is no effective way of slowing the brain damage that is occurring.

Assignment Specifics

Selected disorder: (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
Your goal for this assignment will be to research and find at least one medicine that is used for treatment or symptom management for your selected disorder or injury. Regardless of whether your treatment is a cure or a method of symptom management, you need to determine how the medicine works. Note that you do not need to be able to describe the specific mechanisms; however, you should be able to state the process in simplistic terms. For example, you might find that the medication does not alter the process of cell damage; however, it enables the neurotransmitters in the cells that remain to be used more effectively. After establishing how the treatment works, determine how effective the treatment is and how long the treatment will last. Will the person have to take the medicine for the rest of his or her life, or is it given during a brief time period? In some cases, the timing of medication application must be considered, for example, a clot-dissolving drug given in the early stages of clot formation in an ischemic stroke is more effective and leads to a better prognosis than when the drug is given later in the process.

The Assignment Task:
The purpose of this assignment is to undertake a critical review of literature in relation to key themes in
Strategic Business and Management. A literature review is a critical analysis of published sources on a
particular topic. It is an assessment of the literature and provides a summary, classification, comparison and
evaluation. Undertaking a critical review of literature is a key component for postgraduate study. It allows you
to demonstrate the depth of your knowledge and understanding, highlight your ability to challenge, question,
compare and contrast and analyse a range of theories and concepts in relation to your topic.
It is important that you demonstrate that you are able to evaluate and critically analyse what you are reading.
As a post graduate business student, it is essential that you demonstrate up-to-date knowledge regarding
critical business issues and that you can reach evidence-based conclusions in your writing.
The task: is to undertake a Critical Literature Review in relation to key themes in Strategic Business and
Management that being introduced in this module within the context of International Business. Choose one
of the following topics below for your essay:
❖ Leadership in the 21st century and strategic development of organisations.
❖ Leading innovation and strategic development of organisations in the 21st century.
❖ Leading organisations in complex business environment in the 21st century.
❖ Leadership for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability issues in Strategic
Management in the 21st century.
Once you choose a topic, you must write a 2,000-word research essay (+/-10%). Remember your final
reference list, cover page, list of tables, list of figures and list of appendices and appendices are not included.
Using headings, you should introduce your topic, then critically evaluate your research sources, comparing and
contrasting ideas to summarise key themes and identify new theories based on your research. Finally, you
should synthesise and add a conclusion to summarise what you have found. (The assignment template will be
provided). A Critical Literature Review is a research-based essay requires you to identify, select and analyse the
research on the key themes and to critically discuss the implications of the research in relation to real world
situations. You must employ evidence-based analysis and cite your sources and present a reference list
(Harvard Style).
4 | P a g e
Evidence-based analysis: This means you should support and critically analyse arguments made within your essay by
providing proper justifications from academic articles and academic books (sourced via UoN library and NELSON) and/or
from other creditable sources mentioned in your Harvard Referencing guide. You must use quality sources of
information. Quality sources normally include academic journals and academic books and credible business
reports. You must also cite and reference your sources using Harvard Referencing. There will be guidance on
NILE to help you to consider the credibility of your research and to help you with Harvard Referencing. For
support with critical reading and writing, how to approach literature reviews and postgraduate level work,

Assignment Support: Citing & Referencing Harvard Style
(UK Universities have slightly different Harvard referencing style)
For more details, please check your university’s Harvard referencing guide:
UoN’s Harvard Referencing Guide
“Referencing is a way of acknowledging other peoples’ ideas and work. You do this through a citation (in
the text of your work) and a reference at the end of your work. The purpose of referencing is so that anyone
reading your work can refer to the original source to check and verify the ideas presented. You must
reference any source that you use” (UoN Library and Learning Service, 2016).
➢ Your in-text citations and final reference list MUST be in Harvard Style.
➢ You SHOULD develop your critical thinking and provide it in an academic format/work.
➢ Your academic works (report, assignment, presentation and etc) without academic references (textbooks
& academic articles) and credible sources have NO value and it is NOT acceptable.
➢ Using non-academic sources and internet websites such as Wikipedia, YouTube, Online Business Dictionary,
Study.com and similar sources will not add any value to your arguments and your grade will be affected
negatively. Please Do Not use non-academic internet websites / non-academic sources to support your
arguments.
➢ You may develop your knowledge by watching YouTube videos or reading Wikipedia. BUT, you are NOT
allowed to use them as references/citations. You MUST find the original academic or credible sources of
those YouTubes and Wikipedia pages to use as citations and references.
➢ Official credible internet websites can be used to gain data and information to support your findings and
arguments. For example:

How to develop critical thinking?
You will be taught different modules during your studies. You are going to review, read and understand the
importance of different Business and Management theories and you will practice and apply those theories
on your case studies during seminar activities and assessments.
Critical Thinking means, making reasoned judgments that are logical and well thought out. If you think
critically you may ask these questions such as:
❖ How do you know that?
❖ Why this is happening?
❖ What are the different scholars’ opinions about the objectives / topics?
❖ Is this conclusion based on credible and academic evidence or gut feelings?
❖ Are there alternative possibilities?
You critical thinking can be divided into the followings:
➢ Curiosity
➢ Scepticism
➢ Humility
Curiosity: Desire to learn more information and seek evidence as well as being open to new ideas.
Scepticism: Having a healthy questioning attitude about new information that you are exposed to.
Humility: Admit your opinions and ideas are wrong when faced with new convincing evidence.
Critical Thinking is a complex process of deliberation which involves a wide range of skills and attitudes. The
focus of critical thinking is often referred to as the “argument” (Cottrell, 2011. pp.2-4):
➢ Identifying other people’s (academic scholars) positions, arguments and conclusions.
➢ Evaluating the evidence for alternative points of view.
➢ Weighing up opposing arguments and evidence fairly.
➢ Being able to read between the lines, seeing behind surface and identifying false or unfair
assumptions.
➢ Recognising technique used to make certain positions more appealing than others.
➢ Reflecting issues in a structured way, bringing logic and insight to bear.
➢ Drawing conclusions about whether arguments are valid and justifiable, based on good evidence and
sensible assumptions.
➢ Synthesising information, drawing together your judgments of evidence, synthesising these to form
your own new position.
➢ Presenting a point of view in a structured, clear well-reasoned way that convinces others (based on
creditable findings).
Benefit of critical thinking skills:
➢ Improve attention and observation.
➢ More focused reading.
➢ Improve ability to identify the key points in a text or other message rather than becoming distracted
by less important materials.
➢ Improve ability to respond to the appropriate points in a message.
➢ Knowledge of how to get your own point across more easily
➢ Skills of analysis that you can choose to apply in a variety of situations.

Leadership Development Plan

The purpose of a leadership development plan is for leaders to develop competencies that can bridge levels and functionalities in the organization. This allows leaders to promote team engagement, and provide purpose and direction for achieving their goals. Leadership development programs are essential to managing a team when it comes to planning and making the right decisions regarding functionality across the organization. By developing a plan, leaders are able to determine the skills of each staff member. As a result, leadership can utilize the skills of the staff strategically when putting the plan into action.
Develop a SWOT analysis on your organization. If you currently do not work for a health care organization, use a health care facility where you previously were employed.
Identify an area of weakness on which you will focus your Leadership Development Plan.
Create a 500 to 1,000 word Leadership Development Plan addressing the questions below.

  • What are the organization’s perceived weaknesses?
  • How can you use the strengths identified in your Personal SWOT Analysis to help the organization improve their weaknesses?
  • Which competencies (managerial and leadership) do you possess and could use to address the issue?
  • How would you design your leadership development plan? Consider combining several theories and models for developing your plan.

Patient Satisfaction Learning Team Project Summary: Problem Identification

Week 2

The final team project concerns a patient satisfaction issue that will require intervention from an organization’s leaders to address. Over the next four weeks the team assignments will explore different parts of the final assignment.

As a team, identify a quality measure that is common for nurses to face, but don’t have control over. For example, you are a bedside nurse working in a hospital; one of your patients is expecting to be released that day. The patient’s doctor visits him every day before noon to check his status. The previous day, he had asked the doctor if he would be allowed to go home the next day, to which his doctor responded that he might be able to but it would depend on his progress. The following day, the patient believed he was going be released by noon, since the doctor always made his rounds before then. Unfortunately the doctor had an emergency and wasn’t able to check on the patient until later that evening. Because of the doctor’s absence, the patient’s perception of the quality of care he was receiving was distorted by this happening and reacted by taking his frustration out on the nurse.

  • Discuss possible topics on the team discussion board.
  • Describe a situation problem or issue that needs a solution.
  • Identify what the characteristics are that make the problem leadership focused instead of management focused

Write a 350 to 500 word summary.
Format your summary consistent with APA guidelines.
Note. Points are awarded based on the quality of the content submitted and the degree to which assignment expectations are met.

First Steps on Becoming a Grassroots Lobbyist/Advocate for Health Care Policy

This assignment has two parts, numbered below. Write each question as a new topic area, then follow with a paragraph or two to answer the question. You may find it necessary to search for answers to the questions outside of the assigned reading. Be sure to use APA guidelines for writing style, spelling and grammar, and citation of sources.

Tasks:

  1. Imagine that you are going to make a visit to your representative in Congress. Develop a one-page document that supports your position on the AHCA that you would leave with your representative or his or her aide when you make your visit. This one-pager, also called a “leave behind,” should state your position clearly in bullet points and give your reasons why your position is preferred. This “leave behind” should have 1 inch margins and utilize 14-point font throughout. If you were making this visit in person, you would present your “leave behind” to the person with whom you speak during your visit. Include a second page that describes your rationale for the position in your “leave behind” page supported by at least two journal articles.
  2. Write a two-page brief to describe the scenario surrounding your legislative visit. Understanding the political affiliation of your representative, include answers to the following:
    • Was your member in support or in opposition to the AHCA?
    • State three points that you would cover in support or opposition to your representative’s position.
    • How does your nursing experience influence the advocacy position that you take on the AHCA?

Submission Details:

  • Submit your response in a 4-page Microsoft Word document.
  • Name your document SU_NSG4068_W3_Project_LastName_FirstInitial.doc.
  • Submit your document to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.
  • Cite sources in the APA format on a separate page.

Describe the most significant milestone(s) in the history of public health informatics.

• Refer to the CDC and WHO websites and state the similarities and differences between the types of public health data available with both these organizations.

• Explain the different kinds of statistics and data available with the CDC and WHO. In addition, explain the various methods of research that they use.

• Explain some of the major roadblocks that the field of public health informatics has encountered during the course of its development.

• Describe the most salient issues facing the field of public health informatics today.

• List and describe the various web-based data query programs that are available for different states, including your own.

q2

The dispute over exposing the comparative performance of physicians on a wide spectrum of variables has been resolved in favor of the consumers of health care. Despite physician protests, a number of states have passed legislation that gives the public access to physician information, including disciplinary records, malpractice actions, and whether a physician has lost hospital privileges. Are these fair and balanced bases on which consumers should make medical decisions?

For your sixth discussion board, you are going to begin planning for your upcoming argumentative essay, Essay 3. Since you will need to choose a controversial issue in your academic pathway to focus on, research will play a vital role in your argument. Respond to the prompts below in order to create a research proposal that will provide you direction and a strong basis for your writing. In addition, I will have the opportunity to look over your progress and help guide you toward an even stronger writing project.

  1. What is the working title for your essay?
  2. Explain your interest in this topic. In other words, why did you choose this subject to write on (beyond it simply being in your field of study)?
  3. What is the tentative claim/thesis of your essay? You should express this idea in 1-2 sentences, so make sure that your claim is as specific as possible. (Note: This argument may alter in scope and focus as you progress; you are not wholly committed to it.)
  4. How will your research and writing help to inform and/or benefit your audience? In other words, what is the larger goal of arguing about this topic?
  5. List at least two main sides of your argument (i.e., for and against). Remember that knowing and considering the counterarguments of your claim can help you to write conscientiously about your issue.
  6. Describe at least 3 specific sources that you have consulted, including relevant library databases, (credible) websites, popular and/or scholarly periodicals, books, etc. Make sure to provide specific information about your sources like titles, authors, locations, and dates of publication.

Foundations of Psychotherapy Essay Assignment Papers – NURS 6640 Psychotherapy with Individuals

Week 1: Foundations of Psychotherapy

“Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways.”
—Sigmund Freud

While working with a patient in the late 1800s, Sigmund Freud discovered the health benefits of talking about emotions and illnesses. When Sigmund Freud introduced his “talking cure” (fundamental psychotherapy), his efforts were met with considerable skepticism. However, as more and more psychiatrists learned that Freud’s methods brought about change in patients who suffered from a variety of mental health issues, his methods were adopted and refined. Today, psychotherapy is recognized as a viable treatment for a wide variety of mental health issues, many of which are examined throughout this course. Foundations of Psychotherapy Essay Assignment Papers – NURS 6640 Psychotherapy with Individuals.
