 Psychology homework help
In our readings for this module, we were exposed to the intersection of race (ascribed status) and poverty. We learned that poor health is directly linked to both minority status and lower social class. Minorities and the poor are more likely to face discrimination and other negative social influences as well.
Furthermore, our life choices are all affected by some ascribed conditions, but we rarely stop to understand how. For this assignment, you will write an article on the role of race and gender in determining social status. Your article will include interviews of two people.
Using the module readings, Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, research the role of race in general with regard to social status in American society. Then, write an essay including the following:

  • Provide an overview of the role of race and gender in determining social status in American society.
  • Explain the difference between individual discrimination, institutionalized discrimination, and reverse discrimination.
  • Interview the two people you identified in Working Ahead for M2A2—Identify Two People. Do they differ in their race, gender, and class? Focus on the following in your interviews:
    • Using a sociological perspective, that is thinking critically, determine how the two people you interviewed have been affected by their ascribed traits. In other words, be objective and ask questions about race, class, gender, and age.
    • Ask probing questions about each person’s educational opportunities and career choices.
    • Inquire about their inherited social status, and how their own personal social status differs (or not) from their parents’ social status.
    • Ask if they see themselves as having experienced any form of discrimination.
    • Ask what they see as solutions to discrimination and social disparities based on race, gender, or discrimination.
    • Compare each person’s responses to your own observations; do you observe anything that he or she does not?
    • What differences do you observe between the ascribed traits versus achieved (or earned) traits?
  • Summarize your findings by explaining whether race, gender, and any form of discrimination have played a role in the social status of your interviewees.
  • Include in your summary ideas for reducing any form of discrimination in determining someone’s social status.

Write a 2–3-page paper in Word format. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc. For example, if your name is John Smith, your document will be named SmithJ_M2_A2.doc.

T( Description

Federal Express (FedEx), founded in 1971, handles an average of 3 million package-tracking requests every day (https://about.van.fedex.com/). To stay ahead in a highly competitive industry, the company focuses on customer service by maintaining a comprehensive Web site, FedEx.com, where it assists customers and reduces costs. For example, every request for information that is handled at the Web site rather than by the call center saves an estimated $1.87. FedEx has reported that customer calls have decreased by 83,000 per day since 2000, which saves the company $57.56 million per year. And because each package-tracking request costs FedEx 3 cents, costs have been reduced from more than $1.36 billion to $21.6 million per year by customers using the Web site instead of the call center. Another technology that improves customer service is Ship Manager, an application installed on customers’ sites so users can weigh packages, determine shipping charges, and print shipping labels. Customers can also link their invoicing, billing, accounting, and inventory systems to Ship Manager. However, FedEx still spends almost $326 million per year on its call center in order to reduce customers’ frustration when the Web site is down or when customers have difficulty using it. The company uses customer relationship management software called Clarify in its call centers to make customer service representatives’ jobs easier and more efficient and to speed up response time.
Answer the following questions in a Microsoft® Word document and save the file on your computer with your last name in the file. (Example: module_01_case1_Jones.doc)

  1. Is technology by itself enough to ensure high-quality customer service?
  2. What are FedEx’s estimated annual savings from using information technology?
  3. What are two examples of information technologies used by FedEx? How might these technologies help FedEx maintain a competitive advantage?

Utilizing the information you have gathered over the weeks regarding the specific illness group you identified, this week, you will create a plan of care for your chronic illness group.

Create the plan in a 4- to 6-page Microsoft Word document (the 4–6 pages include the holistic care plan). Include the following in your plan:

  • Start the paper with a brief introduction describing the chronically ill group you selected and provide rationale for selecting this illness and the participants. Clearly identify the Healthy People 2020 topic chosen and why this topic was chosen.
  • You will want to compile the information gathered from Weeks 1–4 over 2 to 3 pages. This should be in APA format and paragraph form. This is not to be copied and pasted from previous assignments. It is to be a summary of each week.
  • The paper should include the care plan for your chronic illness group organized under the following headings:
    • Nursing Diagnoses
    • Assessment Data (objective and subjective)
    • Interview Results
    • Desired Outcomes
    • Evaluation Criteria
    • Actions and Interventions
    • Evaluation of Patient Outcomes
  • You will need to ensure that the care plan is holistic and includes at least 3 nursing diagnoses related to the topic and interview results from the previous weeks.
  • Include strategies for the family or caregiver in the care plan and provide your rationale on how they will work.
  • Include a reference page to provide reference for all citations for the paper as well as the care plan.

A component of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Registration Standards is Continuing Professional Development (CPD). “CPD is the means by which members of the professions maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge, expertise and competence, and develop the personal and professional qualities needed throughout their professional lives” (NMBA, 2016, p 1). An example of a CPD activity is attending “conferences, forums, seminars and symposia” (NMBA, 2016, p 2).
In NUR131 you are required to participate in the 8 research presentations as an illustrative example of a CPD activity. In Part A of the workbook you are required complete a workbook entry for each of the 8 Research Presentations. The research presentations for this activity are located in the

Part B of the workbook requires you to answer a number of questions related to a research article. The workbook template (included on BlackBoard) includes the question areas that MUST be answered for this assessment task.
You are required to analyse and critique the journal article. Simple yes/no answers are not adequate responses. Do not use quotations as this demonstrates that you can find information but does not demonstrate that you understand a concept.

You should follow the most recent APA guidelines when citing your work. Be sure to incorporate your weekly readings and cite your sources using proper APA guidelines (including in-text citations and references). Respond with meaningful feedback to two classmates before the end of the week. Your feedback should be constructive and add value to the discussion.

Part 1: Transition of the Healthcare Industry

There are many reasons why the healthcare industry has begun to change.  Certainly we know that recent governmental healthcare reform has and will continue to cause change within the industry. However, there has been a more subtle transition within the industry. This week we are discussing this transition, its causes and the effect it has had on the industry and the way we view healthcare.

Describe how the healthcare industry has transitioned from an emphasis on “the sale” to an emphasis on long-term wellness and relationships.

Quantifying Epidemiology

Question description
In this first week of epidemiology, we are exploring Chapters 1 – 5 of Gordis. This covers a lot of information from the history of epidemiology through in-depth topics on how to appropriate evaluate disease occurrence through quantitative means. This week, you need to build a community health profile of the deficits in your community. Community Health Assessments (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIP) have become all the rage in health departments. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have required every health department to engage in CHIPs and CHAs as a part of their accreditation process. You can use as many or as few of the above resources as you want, or you can use Journals and other data sources to help you meet this requirement. In this discussion, you are going to assess a community of your choosing (County or State level) and select two areas in which they have poor data outcomes. You will then compare either the County to the State or the State to the Nation to build you evidence that there is an issue. This post must contain some measurement of epidemiology in some fashion. It cannot be subjective and it must be based on rates, ratios or some other type of quantitative measure. Must be between 350 – 500 words. Textbook: Gordis, L. (2009). Epidemiology (5th edition). Saunders. ISBN-13:978-1455737338.
