Discussion 1: Translating Knowledge From an Evaluation Report
Instructors and professors often comment that they learn much more about their subject matter when they begin to teach it. When they try to explain the topic to someone else they begin to connect concepts in new ways. They anticipate questions that students might ask, consider different viewpoints, and think more critically.
For this Discussion, take the perspective of someone who is instructing his or her colleagues and sharing your understanding of research methods and program evaluation.
To prepare for the Discussion, select an evaluation report from this week’s resources. Consider how you would present the information to a group of colleagues.
·
Post an analysis of how you would present the results of the evaluation to a group of social work colleagues.
·
Identify the background information that you think they would need and the key message of your presentation.
·
Explain the strategies that you might use to meet your colleagues’ interests and goals. Identify questions that your colleagues might have and what their reactions might be.

Discussion 2: Contemplating Your Future
The NASW Code of Ethics makes a number of statements about social workers’ responsibility to study, use, and engage in research and evaluation. In the past, many social workers had difficulty thinking of themselves as knowledgeable and capable in research, despite completing the required research course in school. Think of yourself as a part of a new breed of social workers. You are completing your education at a point in time that places great emphasis on both research and evaluation. You also have greater access to published research than ever before. Research knowledge and skills are like muscles—if you do not use them, they will atrophy. You have an ethical obligation as a social worker to exercise and flex your research muscle. Consider how the NASW Code of Ethics guides your professional research.
· Post an analysis of how you can apply new knowledge and skills related to research and evaluation, acquired in this course to your future career.
· Identify specific knowledge and strategies and how you intend to apply them.
· Identify those skills that you believe will be most applicable to achieving your future goals.

Discussion 3: Future Career Goals
What are your short- and long-term professional goals? Do they include moving into a leadership and management position? Transitioning from clinical to administrative roles is not uncommon in social work practice. It is useful, however, to think about relevant skills, knowledge, and professional experiences that will prepare you for the transition. In addition, you should consider the personal benefits and challenges of assuming a leadership role.
· Post your thoughts about your future career goals, your interest in moving into leadership or management positions, and the benefits and challenges of a social work administrator’s role.

Discussion 4: Perspectives on Leadership
What is a leader? This may seem like a simple question, but an individual’s response to the question may depend on the individual and his or her situation. Leadership contains elements of personality, personal characteristics, skills, and knowledge. Leadership can be demonstrated within human services organizations as well as in the organizations’ interactions with stakeholders in the community.
As you consider all you have explored about leadership in this course, what new perspectives have you gained regarding this topic? Consider how you might apply your discoveries to your career planning and development.

You may also want to use online sources, Google etc., to research the State Anxiety Test, or the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2).
It is a sport-specific state anxiety scale developed by Martens, Vealey, and Burton (1990). The scale divides anxiety into three components: cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety, and a related component-self-confidence. Self- confidence tends to be the opposite of cognitive anxiety and is another important factor in managing stress.
Complete this scale, meaning, fill out the questionnaire for yourself before a practice, workout or meaningful event. If you are not currently active in competition, recall such situations as clearly as possible and record and report your responses in this initial forum post, then answer the following questions in your forum post:
1. Do you tend to be an individual that struggles with stress and anxiety?
2. If not, explain your general arousal personality.
3. What are possible factors that influence your arousal, stress, and anxiety status before an event?
4. What are strategies that you can apply to reduce stress and anxiety and maintain appropriate arousal levels?
Make sure at the end of your discussion you reference the location of your ideas.

Home Visit With Sallie Mae Fisher
Uncategorizedobserve the simulated “Home Visit With Sallie Mae Fisher” video (http://lc.gcumedia.com/zwebassets/courseMaterialPages/nrs410v_vp01Alt.php).
Refer to “Sallie Mae Fisher’s Health History and Discharge Orders” for specifics related to the case study used to inform the assignment.
Using “Home Visit With Sallie Mae Fisher” and “Sallie Mae Fisher’s Health History and Discharge Orders,” complete the following components of this assignment:
Essay Portion
After viewing the home visit, write an essay of 500-750-words in which you do the following:
Mrs. Fisher’s number one problem is dehydration. In the video her vital signs are: Heart rate 58, blood pressure 90/56, respiratory rate 24 and temperature 97.8F (GCU, 2017). Her physical assessment reveals poor skin turgor, tenting, dry mucus membranes, hypoactive bowel sounds, no bowel movement for three days and a 14 pound weight loss in one week (GCU, 2017). She admits to “not having an appetite.” She is taking Lasix, a diuretic further contributing to her fluid loss. All of these finding are consistent with dehydration. Dehydration can lead to a kidney injury, seizures and hypovolemic shock (Mayo Clinic, 2017).
The next problem is an unsafe living environment. In in video we see a loose rug on the floor, prescriptions on the table and mail on the couch. This lack of organization and Mrs. Fisher’s age put at risk for a fall. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states, “One out of five falls in an older adult causes a serious injury such as broken bones or a head injury” (CDC, 2017).
Then we look at her lack of understanding surround her discharge. She is supposed to be on home oxygen but didn’t have it delivered because she thinks she will, “Be in the poor house” due to cost of her medications and medical supplies. The final problem is her depression. Mrs. Fisher explains her husband died. She now lives alone and, “doesn’t even care, is so lonesome and misses him so” (GCU, 2017).
Prepare this step of the assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
Scripted Dialogue Portion
Utilizing the information learned from the home visit, health histories, and discharge orders, write a scripted dialogue in which you provide Sallie Mae with education that describes her problems and the interventions identified to improve her condition. Consider Sallie Mae’s physiological, psychosocial, educational, and spiritual needs when developing your dialogue.
Your dialogue should resemble a script. The following is an example of a few sentences from a scripted dialogue:
Nurse: “Good morning, Salle Mae, my name is ______ and I will be your nurse today. I understand you are experiencing problems with ________.”
APA format is not required for this part of the assignment, but solid academic writing is expected.
Refer to “Home Visit With Sallie Mae Fisher Grading Criteria.”

UncategorizedI chose Ikea for my firm with global operations. My girlfriend loves it. Ikea originated in Sweden in the 1940s. The founder Invar had a vision to offer the best possible prices while keeping quality high. The low prices are due to a high turnover, direct delivery from the factory and low overhead. Ikea prides them self on low price, high quality, form, function and sustainability. Ikea is strengths are that it is able to offer low prices, modern designs and a large selection of products. Their weakness is that products can be time-consuming and that their products lack customization. Customers, like my girlfriend, love Ikea. Their products, like dishes and tables, are good quality for the price. They are cheaper because she puts it together, and the furniture does not get damaged because they come unassembled.

Question description
ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS
In this assessment, you will build on the policy proposal work you completed in Assessment 2.
PREPARATION
The policy proposal you developed was well received by senior leadership. As a result, they have asked you to put together a presentation for one of the stakeholder groups that you identified in your proposal.
Your deliverable for this assessment is a slide deck to support your presentation. You may use Microsoft PowerPoint or any other suitable presentation software. Please use the notes section of each slide to develop your talking points and reference your sources, as appropriate.
If you choose to use PowerPoint and need help designing your presentation, a link to Microsoft tutorials is provided in the Supplemental Resources. An additional PowerPoint guide is linked in the Resources.
The design and organization of your presentation will determine how many slides you need. However, in this instance, senior leaders have suggested that 8–12 slides is a reasonable expectation for this presentation.
PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS
Note: The tasks outlined below correspond to grading criteria in the scoring guide.
In your presentation, in an order that makes sense for your presentation, senior leaders have asked that you:
PRESENTATION DESIGN
Being able to effectively address any audience is a necessary leadership skill. Remember that you are the speaker, not a projectionist. Your purpose is not to present a slide show. Your audience is there to listen to what you have to say, not read your slides—or worse, listen to you read them. Design your presentation slides to compliment and reinforce your message and engage your listeners.

Final Paper You are to prepare a response to the assignment below. Your final paper should be double spaced, between five to seven pages in length, not counting the cover page or any appendices. You should use 12-point type font. You must cite relevant materials from readings and handouts. You should also present your own thoughts concerning this, using observations from your own experiences. You should document all material brought in from sources other than your own thinking using APA style. The final paper will ask students to select a theory discussed in class or readings and conduct a literature review of that chosen theory, as well as an analytical section which compares their current organization (work, student group, etc.) to the chosen theory. The final paper is worth a total of 315 points and is due as a Microsoft Word document The paper should include:
• A description of the theory • A review of the literature based on the chosen theory that includes at least eight references. The review of literature should start with a broad scope and narrow down to your specific organization. • Description of your organization and how the selected theory relates to the organization. Try to analyze your organization based on topics from class. Is your organization efficient? How are the mission or objectives communicated? Would another theory be more applicable for your organization? If so, how could you try to facilitate change in the organization? If you are concerned about anonymity, you do not have to use your organization’s name. • Use examples from the readings or outside material that supports your ideas.
