Summary:
Each student will conduct a search of Campbellsville University’s online library resources to find 2-3 recent peer-reviewed articles (within the past 3 years) that closely relate to Managerial Issues of a Networked Organization. Your submission must include the following information in the following format:
ANALYSISUsing 750-1200 words, write a brief analysis, in your own words of how the article relates to the selected topics

  • A Systems Approach: End-to-End Protocols
  • Information Technology for Management
    • Information Technology Architectures
    • System Alternatives and Acquisition
An analysis is not rehashing what was already stated in the article, but the opportunity for you to add value by sharing your experiences, thoughts, and opinions. This is the most important part of the assignment.

REFERENCES: All references must be listed at the bottom of the submission–in APA format.
Be sure to use the headers in your submission to ensure that all aspects of the assignment are completed as required.
Any form of plagiarism, including cutting and pasting, will result in zero points for the entire assignment.

Create a biological network using NetSim, share your creation and you may earn quite a few extra points at the end of the semester. ( after creating the network need to save the code everything is in youtube tutorial also write 2 paragraphs explain what you did. I will attache an example. )
Perhaps, the first thing
you should do is check out this brief introduction to NetSim, an iPad app that the CSUN IT department and yours truly developed and launched last year. Then, watch this video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ_vbQ-bi1s&feature=youtu.be . on how to use NetSim. By the way, accept my apology for the low quality of the video – this is a work in progress in several ways, and I have not had the time to edit a tutorial video that looks a little more professional. On the flip side, you’re the first humans on Planet Earth to use this app in a real-life scenario. (…Yes, you may tell your friends…)
I can imagine that you’ll have several questions. Let me preemptively answer some:
– What kind of biological network should I create?
It should be a molecular or genetic network. It can be genes and proteins interacting with one another, including protein-protein, protein-DNA, genetic and enzymatic interactions. Please refrain from mapping physiological or ecological networks. Any interactions among biological entities within a cell will work.
– Does it have to be real, or can I make one up?
It has to be based on some sort of evidence. Obviously, you will have to come up with (i.e. make some informed guesstimates about ) specific values for parameters for which no values may exist, or are easy to find. But I do expect the nodes (genes/proteins/molecules) and the interactions between them to be based on real evidence, and that the values that you choose for them are reasonable. In fact, you’ll have to share a reference to the sources that you used to put together your network, and some narrative to explain some of your decisions in compiling the network together.
– Does my network have to have a minimum number of nodes or interactions?
No. The more the merrier, of course. But the simplest of networks with only two nodes and a couple of carefully selected parameters (and one that shows some complex behavior) could earn you several points.
– Do I need an iPad to download / install NetSim?
Yes. The app was developed in the context of the iPad initiative, and it runs only on the iPad. It won’t work on other tablets, laptop/desktop computers or iPhones.
– Do I need to create and share my network all in one sitting?
No! NetSim allows you to save your work in progress. At the very end, you will generate a share code that you will submit as part of your submission. But that’s at the end, when you’re happy with your product. In the meantime, you can open and work on your network as many times as you want/need – the only thing that you need to remember is to save your updated networks (the iPad will save them locally, and you will be able to find them later by date/time).
– How many points will I get for submitting a network?
The maximum number of extra-credit points is 50. Yummy. But, how many points you really get of course depends on a series of grading criteria. Very generally speaking, the more of the items below that you check, the more points that your network will accrue:
-Narrative & References: You need to submit a paragraph or two describing the biology behind your network. Do not assume that I will know any network that you submit, no matter how “famous” or common its nodes and interactions may be. Do not assume that I will immediately understand the regulatory connections within your network based on parameters and configuration. A more complete and eloquent narrative allows me to figure out if you chose reasonable parameters and connections (and note I say “reasonable” not “right” or “correct”; once again, there may not be “right” or “correct” parameters for your network). In your narrative, you will also have to include any references backing up your network. If you cite the book, give me (a) page number(s). If you’re citing something from lecture, give me a lecture date. If your citing any internet source, give me something accurate that I can check (perhaps a valid URL?)
-Originality. I expect a fair share of networks depicting, for instance, the Trp or Lac operon (or any of the other real-life processes that we discussed in class). And that’s fine! But if you can come up with a network that you put together based on material outside of the book or lecture… that’s even better!
-Number of nodes and interactions: the more, the merrier (i.e. the more points).
-Number of feedback loops and autoregulatory connections: the more, the merrier (i.e. the more points).
-Complex behavior: Do the nodes in your network show any complex behavior (dancing up and down, or drastically changing behavior depending on slight changes to initial conditions or key parameters)…? Or does your network show some nodes quickly shooting up and staying up, while others decrease and never come back, regardless of what parameters you choose for your your network …? The closer to more complex behaviors, the better!
-Have you named all of your nodes? Have you?
-Parameter choices. Are your time delays, interaction strengths and signs, start values and detereoration and production constants properly justified (i.e. reasonable) based on the information in your sources?
– Can you give us an example?
You can find an example of a submission here. The text portion of your submission should briefly describe the reason behind your choices for network architecture and parameters. In the example that I provide, I included a graph from the source article on which the network is based – I suggest that you add a visual reference to your source if you can, which could make your job explaining the network a lot easier (a good picture is worth a thousand words). Notice, also, that a simple reference to the source is enough. And most importantly – make sure to include the share code generated by NetSim (and remember that you need to generate the share code only once; after that, all the changes you make will be saved to the same network).

Cookie Creations (Chapters 5 and 6)
This assignment is a continuation of the Cookie Creations case study from previous chapters. From the information gathered in the previous chapters, read the continuation of the Cookie Creations case study below for Chapter 5 and Chapter 6, which can also be found on p. 5-51 and p. 6-45.
The case study allows you to apply what you have learned about accounting for merchandising operations (Chapter 5) and inventories (Chapter 6). This assignment will allow you to practice what you have learned so far.
Part I
Because Natalie has had such a successful first few months, she is considering other opportunities to develop her business. One opportunity is the sale of European mixers. The owner of Kzinski Supply Company has approached Natalie to become the exclusive distributor of these fine mixers in her state. The current cost of a mixer is approximately $575, and Natalie would sell each one for $1,150. Natalie comes to you for advice on how to account for these mixers. Each appliance has a serial number and can be easily identified.
Natalie has come to you for your advice on how to account for these mixers and asks you the questions below, which you must address.
1. Would you consider these mixers to be inventory, or should these mixers be classified as supplies or equipment?
2. Which inventory tracking system should Natalie use: perpetual or periodic?
3. Which system do you think is better: perpetual or periodic?
4. Which system would you recommend for the type of inventory that Natalie wants to sell?
5. How often does Natalie need to count inventory if she maintains it using the perpetual system? In contrast, does she need to count inventory at all?
Provide your responses to the questions in a Word document. Use the unit lesson, required unit resources, and suggested unit resources to formulate your response. Your response should be a minimum of two pages in length and include at least two references. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment.
Part II
Natalie is busy establishing both divisions of her business (cookie classes and mixer sales), and she is completing her business degree. Her goals for the next 11 months are to sell one mixer per month and to give two to three classes per week.
The cost of the fine European mixers is expected to increase. Natalie has just negotiated new terms with the owner of Kzinski Supply Company, which will include shipping costs in the negotiated purchase price (mixers will be shipped free on board (FOB) destination). Assume that Natalie has decided to use a periodic inventory system and now must choose a cost flow assumption for her mixer inventory. The transactions listed below occur in February to May 2020.
Feb. 2: Natalie buys two deluxe mixers on account from Mixer Supply Company for $1,200 ($600 each), FOB destination, terms n/30.
Feb. 16: She sells one deluxe mixer for $1,150 cash.
Feb. 25: She pays the amount owed to Mixer Supply Company.
Mar. 2: She buys one deluxe mixer on account from Mixer Supply Company for $618, FOB destination, terms n/30.
Mar. 30 : Natalie sells two deluxe mixers for a total of $2,300 cash.
Mar. 31: She pays the amount owed to Kzinski Supply Company.
Apr. 1 : She buys two deluxe mixers on account from Mixer Supply Company for $1,224 ($612 each), FOB destination, terms n/30.
Apr. 13: She sells three deluxe mixers for a total of $3,450 cash.
Apr. 30: Natalie pays the amount owed to Mixer Supply Company.
May 4: She buys three deluxe mixers on account from Mixer Supply Company for $1,875 ($625 each), FOB destination, terms n/30.
May 27: She sells one deluxe mixer for $1,150 cash.
For Part II, determine the cost of goods available for sale. You will recall from Chapter 5 (see Part I above) that at the end of January, Cookie Creations had three mixers on hand at a cost of $575 each. For Part II of the assignment, you will calculate the following items: ·
· ending inventory,
· cost of goods sold,
· gross profit, and
· gross profit rate under each of the following methods: last-in, first-out (LIFO); first-in, first-out (FIFO); and average cost.
Submit Part I and Part II in a single Word document. Your total combined submission should include two pages for Part I and the solutions to Part II.

Political Campaigns, News Media, and Interest Groups
When I took the oath of office, I pledged loyalty to only one special interest group – ‘we the people’.” – Ronald Reagan
No doubt about it, news media and interest groups greatly influence American politics.
Today’s modern media has many components including the news media, which includes print media (newspapers, magazines, etc.), radio (AM news radio, etc.), television (ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, NBC, etc.), and digital (Internet news, social networks, blogs, etc.). (OConner, Sabato, 2018)
The news media can affect public policy via agenda setting and framing:

  • Agenda setting is how individual news media decide what news they will showcase and how important the news story is by providing greater or lesser attention to the news story. (OConner, Sabato, 2018)
  • Framing is how individual news media covers the news story and how such coverage can steer public policy one way or another. (OConner, Sabato, 2018)

Major news media outlets:

Interest groups are non-profit, voluntary organizations that seek to affect public policy. (Boundless, n.d.) Although there are a number of ways to classify interest groups, for the sake of simplicity we shall use this model:

  • Business/Labor/Professional Interest Groups: organizations that want to affect economic public policy that benefits their members.
    • Examples: U.S. Chamber of Commerce, American Medical Association, and American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations
  • Ideological Interest Groups: organizations that advocate public policy based on a set of beliefs.
    • Example: American Conservative Union
  • Public Interest Groups: organizations that want to affect public policy that benefits not just its members but also society.
    • Example: Sierra Club
  • Single Issue Interest Groups: organizations that advocate one public policy concern.
    • Example: National Rifle Association

Many if not most prominent interest groups form Political Action Committees (PACs). PACs are groups that raise funds in order to contribute money to a political candidate and/or officeholder. PACs are limited on how much money they can contribute. As of the 2019-2020 election cycle, PACs can give each candidate and/or officeholder $5000 during the primary and general election. (CRP, 2019)
More information about Political Action Committees (PACs) and Super Political Action Committees (SPACs) can be found on the Center for Responsive Politics Open Secrets website:

In this week’s discussion, you will analyze a political campaign’s finances, campaign advertising, media coverage, and special interest involvement.
Directions: Using the required, academic readings, and supplemental academic research, please address the following while adhering to the Discussion Board Rubric:
Select a recent candidate or officeholder at the federal level that you considered supporting with your vote. Note: you may reuse the same person from the Unit 7 Discussion. Analyze this person based on the following criteria:

  • Election and Campaign Financing
    • How much money did the person raise and spend during the election campaign?
      • Donations from individuals?
      • Donations from political parties?
      • Donations from Political Action Committees (PACs)?
        • How much – in total – did all the contributing PACs spend during the election campaign on your person?
        • Select two PACs that contributed to the person’s campaign.
          • Provide a brief summary of the political action committee.
          • Analyze the purpose of this political action committee.
          • Does this PAC help or hinder our democracy?
      • Self-financed?
      • What does an analysis of the person’s campaign finances tell you?
  • Campaign Advertising
    • Select one political advertisement from the person’s election campaign.
      • Summarize the advertisement.
      • What was the message?
      • What is the target audience?
      • Was this advertisement effective?
      • Include an APA link to the advertisement or embed the advertisement into the discussion post.
  • The News Media
    • Select one news article, video, or political cartoon about your person’s election campaign.
      • Analyze how the news media sets the agenda and frames the news story regarding your person’s candidacy or current, public service.
      • Articulate, in detail, how this news story helps or hinders your person’s electability.
      • Include an APA link to the news media article, video, or political cartoon.

National initiatives driven by the American Nurses Association have determined nursing-quality outcome indicators that are intended to focus plans and programs to increase quality and safety in patient care. The following outcomes are commonly used nursing-quality indicators:

•  complications such as urinary tract infections, pressure ulcers, hospital-acquired pneumonia, and DVT

•  patient falls

•  surgical patient complications, including infection, pulmonary failure, and metabolic derangement

•  length of patient hospital stay

•  restraint prevalence

•  incidence of failure to rescue, which could potentially result in increased morbidity or mortality

•  patient satisfaction

•  nurse satisfaction and staffing

Scenario:

Mr. J is a 72-year-old retired rabbi with a diagnosis of mild dementia. He was admitted for treatment of a fractured right hip after falling in his home. He has received pain medication and is drowsy, but he answers simple questions appropriately.

A week after Mr. J was admitted to the hospital, his daughter, who lives eight hours away, came to visit. She found him restrained in bed. While Mr. J was slightly sleepy, he recognized his daughter and was able to ask her to remove the restraints so he could be helped to the bathroom. His daughter went to get a certified nursing assistant (CNA) to remove the restraints and help her father to the bathroom. When the CNA was in the process of helping Mr. J sit up in bed, his daughter noticed a red, depressed area over Mr. J’s lower spine, similar to a severe sunburn. She reported the incident to the CNA who replied, “Oh, that is not anything to worry about. It will go away as soon as he gets up.” The CNA helped Mr. J to the bathroom and then returned him to bed where she had him lie on his back so she could reapply the restraints.

The diet order for Mr. J was “regular, kosher, chopped meat.” The day after his daughter arrived, Mr. J was alone in his room when his meal tray was delivered. The nurse entered the room 30 minutes later and observed that Mr. J had eaten approximately 75% of the meal. The meal served was labeled, “regular, chopped meat.” The tray contained the remains of a chopped pork cutlet.

The nurse notified the supervisor, who said, “Just keep it quiet. It will be okay.” The nursing supervisor then notified the kitchen supervisor of the error. The kitchen supervisor told the staff on duty what had happened.

When the patient’s daughter visited later that night, she was not told of the incident.

The next night, the daughter was present at suppertime when the tray was delivered by a dietary worker. The worker said to the patient’s daughter, “I’m so sorry about the pork cutlet last night.” The daughter asked what had happened and was told that there had been “a mix up in the order.” The daughter then asked the nurse about the incident. The nurse, while confirming the incident, told the daughter, “Half a pork cutlet never killed anyone.”

The daughter then called the physician, who called the hospital administrator. The physician, who is also Jewish, told the administrator that he has had several complaints over the past six months from his hospitalized Jewish patients who felt that their dietary requests were not taken seriously by the hospital employees.

The hospital is a 65-bed rural hospital in a town of few Jewish residents. The town’s few Jewish members usually receive care from a Jewish hospital 20 miles away in a larger city.

Requirements:

Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. Use the Turnitin Originality Report available in Taskstream as a guide for this measure of originality.

You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

Analyze the scenario (suggested length of 2–3 pages) by doing the following:

A.  Discuss how the application of nursing-quality indicators could assist the nurses in this case in identifying issues that may interfere with patient care.

B.  Analyze how hospital data of specific nursing-quality indicators (such as incidence of pressure ulcers and prevalence of restraints) could advance quality patient care throughout the hospital.

C.  Analyze the specific system resources, referrals, or colleagues that you, as the nursing shift supervisor, could use to resolve an ethical issue in this scenario.

D.  Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.

E.  Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission

Discussion question

What infection control concerns may arise when using personal communication devices in your workplace?

Professor response
“…infections are prone to rise…”. Infection control is a serious topic in relation to personal communication devices. Have you given any thought when someone asks you to take a picture with their cellphone, where their cellphone has been? I have heard women in the restroom stalls on the phone. Give that some thought!Nurses use apps to teach and educate patients in the patient room
What about other healthcare providers? We have all seen the doctors move from room to room using their stethoscope and not cleaning it between patients. I would imagine the cleaning of their cellphone is as frequent as the stethoscope.
Nurses use apps to teach and educate patients in the patient room.
What infection control concerns may arise when using personal communication devices in your workplace?
How does your facility recommend that you clean these devices?
